Is King broken?
I've never played with King before, but it seems his combos are super easy with insane damage. For example, this 3-hit combo deals 73 damage: u1+2, b3, fff2+4.

As a Hwoarang main, I've done a LOT of practice to be able to execute a high damage combo. So, my question is, are they going to nerf King, or were all his combos and damages like this in the previous games?

Thanks.

On heat, probably.

Imagine how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Tekken would be if it only consisted of combos.

I'm not saying its all combo, but if an easy combo deals high damage as a difficult combo by other characters, so why not playing with that easy one?!

No, Hwoarang is not broken, he's annoying as he always was, but no broken.

Lol, neither of them are broken, their just some of the more annoying chars to fight. King is way better to fight now than he used to be though. Some of you dont know the horror from when his chain grabs all had diff input breaks and werent universally 1 or 2

It doesn't matter if the combo is easy or difficult. If the combo is easy, great, if it's difficult, you'll have to spend a little more time on it. This makes sense if you change characters often, and easy combos are easier to remember, but that's about it.

So, what I understand is that King is not OP, and they won't nerf him like reducing his combo damage a lot, right?
Because I want to go for a new character and King is my choice.

That launcher is a slow 20f to start up and is also minus 20f on block. Hence why it's such high damage.

Just because a character can do something doesn't mean it's actually practical to use.

If I remember correctly, Howarang's b+3 launcher is 19f and -19f on block, but to get 73 damage with it, is not that easy as King and need a lot of practice! Also, King has another CH move (I can't remember the input), that again with 3 hits, it removes about half of the health.

I mean neither of those moves should be used to judge a character's strength.

The real strength in a character's toolset is ability to do damage (which nearly everyone now can, especially with heat) and ability to keep pressure and control in the game.

The reason people constantly ♥♥♥♥♥ about King is that at lower levels he has massive game control. It drops off a lot as you go up in levels and while he stays a solid character he's nothing like the menace people think he is.

And this is nothing new to T8. He might be better in T8 than say T6 and T7, but the exact same complaints by people about him now were made back then.

He is literally going to force you to get better at Tekken, because his toolset is super strong until you know how to play better.

OK. I don't want to compare these two. I want to start a new character and King seems cool. I just wanted to be sure that they won't nerf him a lot later since I'm going to be the King :D
I like to get more damage with lower combo moves.
(btw, the b+3 luancher is 16f on hit and -19f on block)

I mean... you be the judge

But okay, seriously: Maybe not broken, but unreasonably easy to get good results with. This was against pretty bad players, but it also took 0 thought. His heat smash is also ridiculously good, either takes like ~40% of your health, or puts you into a strong mixup. Doesn't take a whole lot to reach ranks some people consider good with King

Nah idc about getting better to avoid kings attacks. They should make his throws just easier to avoid lioke for real it only takes 2hits and 2 grabs to do like 70 damage dont let me mention about this unbreakable ♥♥♥♥ when hes lucky to lay his fingers on a 3+4 attack.
Necropants Mar 13, 2024 @ 7:01pm
After they fixed throw breaks I would not say he is broken but he certainly does too much damage.
