The Fun Spectacular all out action factor is lost almost completely.
But its a 1on1 Game with a ranked progression system, and as long as you climb in ranks the more serious are the opponents trying to beat you.
I think by just picking up a different char and beginning from step 1 again is a way to escape the hardcore high rank stress games.
And thanks to the insanely huge roster i think this soft "reset" is a viable option to keep the game fun for a pretty long time
I ask these questions because most people I think would understand that the higher in a ranked environment you go (in anything), the more serious, tactfully sound and safe opponents are going to play.
Generally speaking, the more competitive the environment, the less fun it can be.
Though, I shall add that there's a graph where there's no fun for average players in the lower ranks due to their increased expectations.
So, when people get the general idea of what to do, but have a long way to master it.. That's where you're gonna have the most fun, I'd say.. When you're better than approximately ~20 - 40% of the playerbase, possibly a bit better. Somewhere where you can allow to make some mistakes without being punished for it while not punishing those mistakes yourself in most cases.
People mash less and movement becomes kind of essential, and whiff punishment becomes a noticeable thing. I would say match-up knowledge and it’s application begin to shine in these areas.
You have to weigh your options too. To be honest, if you have an optimal strategy for winning, I’d just keep doing that. However, I’d say there are still a lot of things to improve in blue ranks than to mash or party, but this is subjective and I like the play difference in ranks, because now you’re actively trying to one-up your opponents instead of “random bs go” method. The game gets calculated and it can take some stamina to play.
(namco better do something about the pluggers and tweak the system going forward though.)
But if you have no clue about the matchup its gonna be a torture.
I really should do more non-ranked stuff but I can't! I need meaning!
i'll take you on with my whoreang, i dont even block. hell i dont even know any combos i just mash.
You said this like it was news. We all know this about Rang users.
You need to make those safe moves unsafe by taking risk yourself and that's where fun comes from. It's just way harder.
