I see they nerfed Kuma

Kuma has bear stance which allows you to also flip yourself on the ground while laying on your back but now when you do that "backwards swim smash" it automatically makes you go back to bear stance. Why is it that they made this change? They are taking away my tools from one of the weakest characters in the game. They also nerfed Kuma's low sweep which doesn't even make opponents fall down anymore.

Kuma is buffed overall though, I don't actually even think he's bottom tier anymore.
The nerfs you're talking about pale in comparison to his new tools.

Could you explain what these new tools are because I'm struggling against all spammers and sweepers?

That low sweep was easy reactable, it isn't anymore. It's way faster now. If you relied on it to win in t7 you were playing at a pretty low level tbh.
On top of that he got new tools to work with and a ton of damage. Kuma might even be mid tier in this game.

He has one of the best heat smashes in the game, it comes out at 13 frames making it one of the fastest. He gets insane chip damage where playing for it is actually viable, but you need to be able to actually defend for that. His jab was improved slightly. He has a variety of great charged attacks now. He has electric wind bear fist, etc.
I played Kuma in 7 as my sub and I find that he's been buffed in 8.
