Well pretty much everything else is harder to practice for a newcomer, but once you know and understand your character's moveset (or at least the most important moves), punishing and especially whiff punishing will get you through the lower ranks easy.

Noobs always throw out random moves at random times, so you can easily hit them after they miss, because they were nowhere near you. So practice keeping some distance, baiting out an attack. and reacting with a long-reaching attack after they whiff.

This should help you get a hang of movement and reaction a bit.
Pretty much everything else, don't even know where to start. But it's very important at the very start that you don't go "learn combos". With every character you can find one move that will deal decent damage and end in tornado, and a move with a lot of damage to finish the combo. Just a couple moves for a decent combo that will work for everything. This will let you keep your mind space free to focus on everything else that's actually important like movement and whiff punishing.

More important than combos is learning how to block and survive rushdown characters.
Also learning to have fun when losing fights. Everybody loses a LOT but not everybody is good at losing.

What punishing is.

A fast (10 frame punish), a mid speed punish (13 frame), a launcher (15 frame punish). A fast low. A safe mid and a power crush.

This is the most important thing imo. Figure that out and you'll be all good

what to do when you are knocked down/on the ground, I have my pratice settings set to me starting lying down because remembering all the options for getting up and when they are appropriate is one of the miriad of things I struggle with

Tekken is all about enforcing a gameplan. Find the gameplan that best suits the situation of the match at any give point of time. You have a massive life lead? Time to play keepout and/or run out the clock. Your opponent doesn’t know the match-up? Rush them down with every dirty trick in the bag. They can’t break throws? Start throwing, and when they reactively duck when you come up close, use mids. The list goes on and on, and much of the fun in Tekken is finding out what works best on your own.

Launch punish, and getting your mind to be on the boat that that's what's happening. The game is almost entirely about getting that juggle.

Customization above anything else.

Remember to take breaks when you start getting irritated. It's much harder to improve when you're upset, so stop playing for a while if you're not having fun.

I don't see anything wrong with learning combos. You're gonna need them when you launch your opponent.

Wouldnt make sense to learn a combo that works after a parry if I cant parry in the first place
Allow me to welcome you to Tekken, feel free to ask for help anytime you need it.

As for what to focus on before combos, I have here a huge compilation of all the learning resources you could need for the game:

Some character guides are missing because either I couldn't find them yet, or there aren't any made for the character yet, but outside of that, everything you could need is there.

Right. My way of learning Tekken is pick up main > learn moveset > learn combos > learn punishments

That's all I have to learn even for new characters that I chose to sub.

To add to my other comment.

The most important part of the offense aren’t combos in my opinion but the flowchart where you construct your sequence of attacks that you are ready to modify on the fly. A good flowchart creates a pressure that feels like always + on block and when it’s never your opponent’s turn.

You can also just copy flowcharts of some top players. Here is an example how one pro player is studying the flowchart of a better player.
