Read: ranked is absolutely pointless because one player gets to play vs normal players while another meets monkeys left and right
I've actually never played Tekken 1, but played every single Tekken afterwards. I never got into any of them at a decent level until Tekken 7. I played Tekken 7 on and off though (throughout it's lifetime), so I wouldn't even call it a long duration; just 3-4 months at a time.
I dunno. I'm enjoying ranked a lot and I don't sweat at all. I've played like 600 games with only 1 plugger. I'm in US East, and play with Ethernet players, and am normally respectful. Also, I love playing with spammers, they're just so easy to beat.
Think I should be able to manage it, since I got Lee to Tekken God in T7, and then I stopped. Could have theoretically gotten TTG, or maybe TGP on a really good day, if ranked wasn't stressing me out so much, lol. TGO was 1000% outside of my scope tho, I don't have that much consistency or endurance yet
So I'm thinking I should be able to make it past ruler ranks, already fought some people at Flame Ruler and I did fine. After I ironed out the bad habbits I got from being rusty and rushing through the low ranks brain-off (which, I'm documenting that embarassing adventure). I played Tekken casually thoughout my life, it even saved my sanity at one point, but Tekken 7 was my first serious fighting game experience
I'm not exactly sweating too because I decided to play the game with a broken pad (dpad is very worn out because the pad is 6 y/o + it likes to disconnect randomly mid round) and it caused me to lose a a lot of games too, but I didn't really care because it was my choice to play like that.
It's just that I don't understand the other side. If you're playing only when you're winning then just go and hack the save by setting it to god of destruction and done.
I don't even care if I lose 20 times in a row, I like facing better players and pluggers certainly can't be called that.
It's not that scary, bro. It's like jumping in a cold pool. Once you get in the water, focus on one good thing. Eventually, you'll accumulate the experience, and you'll come to enjoy it. I read this from somewhere, but I think of it as a glorified practice match; unless it's money matches or a tournament (if I have the time to do that later).
I understand, but whether it's scary, overwhelming, or whatever the case it maybe, you don't need to be Einstein or learn all the moves of a character to play against other players. The point I'm making is, you just have to find one thing you can improve on and have fun instead of thinking ranking is something of value. Because it seems you put too much importance in it by saying things like that's probably never going to happen etc., because you're missing out on a great online experience you might enjoy.
I'm currently at 67 hrs in T8 at Eliminator with 1 more win for Seiryu or idk how you type it :).
Currently maining Victor and I'm training Lili/Leo sometimes.
