May give him a try, but I got so bored playing as him in single player mode.
So learn how to utilise Bryan
He's focused on CH: All (or most) of his CH moves are slow, so you'll end up getting interrupted by a jab string or CH launched yourself.
"But you should play spacing with him": Sure, I agree and it's tons of fun, the problem is, what's unique about him in the mid range distance? 3+4? There are characters that will outrange you and others that will get in a lot faster than you can react.
He doesn't have panic buttons, once the opponent is close range you can just block, jab and hope for the best.
CD, backsway stances and QCB/F moves: I don't think this makes him bad, just adds to all the stuff that makes him inaccessible to people wanting to learn him.
Positives: His damage is great and his pressure game is good IMO. I'm just not a fan of poking people to death with jab strings and hatchet/soccer kick.
Again, I don't think he sucks, His potential is just locked behind insanely good fundamental play and knowledge of the roster.
Here's the problem I'm having getting good with Bryan:
"Full screen counter hit 3+4 launcher": Nothing special about this move, my other main, Yoshi, has FDF2 which does pretty much what this move does but homing. This move is good, don't get me wrong, it's just not reliable as advertised in my honest opinion, other characters can outrange this or get in faster than you can put it out and if you realize "reacting is insanely hard", like I did, you'll start resorting to guessing, then you'll whiff a billion 3+4 and will get launched every time. Cool.
F+3 knee is amazing... if you're Knee. Because on the hands on someone normal, you'll either be too far for this move to be reliable, or too close to get interrupted or CH launched yourself. It's just slower than most close range moves other characters have.
QCF1 truly is an amazing move, can't complain.
"He's one of the best keep out characters". While I understand this and agree, I don't think this says much. Tekken 8 has crazy fast moves, heat dashes, armor moves. All it takes is one whiffed 3+4 and the opponent is already in your face. So yea, he is the best keepout character in the game, that said... good luck keeping anyone out for too long, they will get in and once they do, you don't have a an easy launcher, a hop kick or anything. You just eat non stop pressure and try to get your turn back with a jab string.
I know it sounds like I'm saying the character "sucks". I guess I can compare it to the race Terran in StarCraft 2. In the hands of the best players in the world (or even excellent amateur players) it's almost broken. On the hands of everyone else just trying to get good at the game... good luck.
