Reina didn't know how to activate the devil gene
as we see throughout the story Reina holds back her true power against Jin but she's also interested in learning more about the devil gene. And she realizes almost dying is what makes it activate. Thats why she stepped in front of kazuyas blast, to activate her own devil gene within her.

Reina true motivation is to defeat kazuya
we see her true motivation through story and in non canon character chapter is revenge against Kazuya because she believes he killed Heihachi so her fight against true devil kazuya in the story she was actually trying to kill him, theres no need for her to hold back. she didnt have a devil to bring out because it was still dormant. at the end we obviously see it activated in her after her near death with kazuyas blast.

Devil gene was passed from kazumi to kazuya, heihachi never had it
which of course makes no sense because the devil gene is not in the mishima blood naturally, it was passed through to kazuya by kazumi to and then to jin through kazuya. and we see Lars not have it and heihachi purposely have children to see if he had the devil gene which he didnt.

Reina is not kazumis daughter
Reina being so young, Kazumi could not be her mother. she even calls jin senpai during her act of being a random fan girl of his when in fact she is his aunt but it works because he doesnt know shes his aunt and she is younger than jin. so how did reina get devil gene and what does that have to do with heihachi surviving a volcano?

Heihachi became obsessed with the devil genes potential
we see throughout tekken heihachi fascinated by power. while tekken 7 does make him seem a little sympathetic as he sheds a tear for his situation with kazumi, its not because she had the devil gene and now passed it to his son, its because she betrayed and tried to kill him. make no mistake heihachi is evil and doesnt like the devil gene because it is constantly trying to kill him with kazumi, kazuya, and jin. but if he could control it, of course he would take it. he kept kazuya alive after he confirmed kazuya had it so he was never totally against it. he wanted it for himself.

Heihachi always planned to genetically modify himself with power
as we know heihachi was head of the mishima zaibatsu and was constantly doing many tests including gene manipulation to make lifeforms that were super powerful. and we see he hunted down ogre to harness ogres power. we also see him in multiple tekken media wanting to do the same with the devil gene. although we never see him succeed, Reina proves that he did.

Mishima Zaibatsu succeeded in genetic modification capability
if Reina has it and not through kazumi, then she either inherited it from Heihachi blood, or was given it artificially in a lab during or after birth. either way, heihachi would also have it through his lab as it now has the capability to make that genetic modification and gene splice the devil gene into a normal human.

Devils survive volcanos
this could prove how heihachi survived so much crazy stuff before but apparently it was never enough to truly kill him. but a volcano definitely is enough. we see kazuya thrown into a volcano by heihachi at the end of tekken 2 but kazuya survived because of his devil gene. and so heihachi having the devil gene will also survive and it will now be activated fully after such a severe condition of being almost melted to death in lava.

All the proof you really needed is that Raven said in the story "Heihachi Mishima is dead". He said that in T5 too, and it turned out Iron Grandpa was alive.

If he truly kicked the bucket, Raven would have said "Heihachi Mishima is... kompretery DED!"

I'm surprised they've let Heihachi's moveset go, I expected Reina to have more of his moves to make up for it to be honest. Still, nothing saying he couldn't come back as a non-story flashback character or via a clone or something later on

I hope so i was really disapointed they could at least give her omen it would not change balancing much like 1 b2 or f23 could she has his df11 tho and 1+2 even if weaker versions

Maybe Reina is just older than she looks, like Nina she could have been frozen, or the writers could have just messed up which is more likely, the story is a complete mess full of plot holes and retcons to begin with.

His death isn't really a problem. Kazumi was dead for years yet she was in previous Tekken.

I don't think Heihachi is alive but I don't think it matters either way if he is or not, doubt he'll ever come back cause it seems they wanted the character to die alongside the voice actor which I like a lot, hope it stays that way, and they payed enough homage to him in the story in a way that was both respectful and appropriate I feel
