I get the feeling you'd like Lars though.
If you really like weird samurai like Susanoo you should check out Yoshimitsu, but he will have more stuff to learn.
Some characters are easier to pick up and start with, but liking a character makes it more likely you'll stick with them to actually learn how to play well.
Most characters have fairly similar basic tools, but once you get past that you'll quickly find that even the Mishimas have fundamental differences that give each of them a unique feel.
Heck Paul and Bryan may both seem like "Big Unsafe Heavy Hit" guys on the surface, but they have vastly different gameplay once you get past the button mashing stage.
Shaheen is probably the esiest character to learn the game with.
Mishimas like Kazuya, Reina, DJ have very basic gameplan and are quite easy in that aspect. Their execution is the hard part.
Then there's Lee, who got a lot of just-frame moves and is perhaps the most execution intense character because of it, although he can be played without just-frames for the start.
Stance heavy characters like Yoshimitzu, Xiaoyu, Raven, Zafina can be overwhelming for a beginner but very rewarding in the long run.
For example: I practiced with Lars, learned his basic pokes, punishers, launchers and how his stances work. When I jumped online I noticed that Lars doesn't really click for me after 2 days. The good thing is that I now know the matchup better. Next I picked Raven, who also got a few stances and is quite tricky but for some reason he makes more sense to me.
Just my 2 cents.
Although for learning basics I'd say Paul or Shaheen. Simply because they don't have much funny business going on.
