It just takes a really long time to get better at fighting games. A lot of that will come naturally with time as you become more comfortable and have to think less while you're playing.
A lot of it will also require you to hit the lab and spend time figuring out which moves you should be using when, how to beat various things that your opponents like to do and generally getting better at pressing your buttons.
