first tekken game i've decided to learn and not mash out with friends. I've been messing with hworang but i'm worried i'm still mashy. any suggestions?

im up for learning a hard character. Visually i've always liked yoshimitsu and kazuya. Lee and Steve look real fun too.

I am playing Yoshimitsu as my first main character, I have been playing King (I finished the whole Arcade Quest with him), but I came to a conclusion that he doesn't really fit me so I picked Yoshimitsu because he just looks great and has many interesting attacks, he also uses sword so he is unique in this way as well.

Yoshimitsu is the hardest character to learn, even though he may be a bit easier this time around (Special Style excluded).

reina is pretty good, she is a well balanced fighter

Literally just pick the character you think is interesting/cool. Except King. Only losers play King.

Once you learn the mechanics more and more you'll get drawn to the ones that suit your style.

King is a character like every other, why shouldn't people play it lol, because he is harder to counter doesn't mean that he shouldn't be played by anyone...

Every character in this game is hard until you play them for a bit.

I liked yoshi at first because hes familar to me cuz soul calibur so certain things about him werent to difficult for me, i still love yoshi but as of right now he doesnt have what i want.

Reina kinda does but she feels a bit to mashy and with how the pace of the game is certain advanced things she can do almost feel unnecessary.

Asuka feels similar to reina but with less movement and bigger buttons (which i like), like yoshi i like her forward 4.

or just, u know, try characters and have fun trying to find ur main.

this days no one wants to try anything, just watching youtube for meta fighters and ruin the competitive scene with all the same fighters over and over

I'm curious to know if characters with strict timing on their moves, like the mishima electrics, are a particular issue to master for a newbie over something like hworang/steve where a majority of their impact is tied to one side (punches/kicks). I got a few friends i square off against, so Lili and Reina are off my initial list as i'd rather not deal with mirror matches with em.
