Walls are dumb in this game.
You have characters who can carry you from the middle of the stage all the way to the wall and basically end the match by dishing out so much damage doing wall combos.
And if they didn't get you on the first try, they can basically juggle you in the corner to finish the job.

I hate this wall mechanic. I want more of the coliseum or yakushima. They have walls but they're not just right there.

if there were no walls they could probably carry you to infinity

is that what you want ? :lunar2019grinningpig:

just don't get hit (forbidden knowledge) and remember that your character can probably also do a wall carry
focus on your positioning too, your back should avoid being too close to the wall

this is the first time i miss wall-less stage T^T

Maybe you prefer invisible vertical walls in 2D fighters?

I like the walls. They make combos more complex and you can't just use the max damage combo all the time. More big stages would be welcome too but there's already a good variety so every character has good and bad stages.

Walls make some combos shorter and weaker. They also complicate stuff as you need to judge each time what is the optimal combo finish based on positioning.

Many characters can do over 100 damage without walls but with heat. Kuma has some basic combos for 80 damage without heat or walls.

you definitely missed the last part where i said i want more of the coliseum or yakushima. and also you sound like you don't really play tekken, as you cannot carry someone to infinity, a combo increases the gap of a player.

I'm aware of positioning, but once your opponent manages to get that combo starter and take you to the wall, it's difficult to get out of the wall with so many mids and lows that they have.

maybe you missed the part of my post where I said i would like to see more coliseum and yakushima stages where there are walls. these are big stages so you don't end up with walls straight away. if you get carried to a wall then the round will most likely be over by then.

Walls definitely add complexity, in a good and bad way. I find my combos ruined because of walls, the desired outcome is not what I expected and miss out on wins because of it. Or I lose a match because I'm stuck against a wall on in the corner. It's fkd. I would like to see more coliseum or yakushima stages.

That was one thing DOA6 did right in their game the break stages system to bad the game was ruined by weirdos.

They don't in Tekken 8, since you can now double wall splat and the stages are so small walls are now a part of an optimal combo.

kuma on heat is ridiculous.
my first time I played against a kuma player was a scary experience .

Walls are important because they make character's situational. For example, Paul almost requires a wall to get max damage, but characters like Leo get circumstantial boosts from being near it. It makes Paul much more explosive but Leo much more consistent. Combine that with the fact that everybody has the same walls, and the mechanic is not only balance, but it provides a lot of depth to the game.

If we were to take out walls, all you would see is people backdashing away after a small lifelead until the opponents heat runs out.

Edit: One of T7s problems was that being further away from the wall was actually better than having the opponent with the back to the wall because you couldn't match the damage of a wall carry combo + wall combo with a wallsplat from neutral. Thats why you would see people backdash away half screen after a small lifelead rather than rushing you down.

Thanks to Tekken 6 esque wall bounds, walls are finally scary again and there is more of an incentive to rush you down but the T7 playstyle can still be rewarding depending on the character.

Be careful what you wish for. Walls work for you, not against you.
Becareful to read what I said in my post.

I would like stages like the coliseum or yakushima. I already knew of the backdash to get away from an opponent, I can't remember which tournetment it was but it was a Lei match.
