from tekken 3 to 6 we have
side step movement > wall > high-low crush system > rage > combo structure
then tekken 7 they add
rage drive, rage art, power crush, wall crush
in Tekken 8 we have
Heat and changed in how combo works
so if you miss so many Tekken, you will be overwhelming with new stuff
ppl with throw so many thing at you that you doesn't familiar with
thats why
If you get beaten by "lame XY" that says more about you than them. Lab it. Yes, you'll need to lab scenarios a lot to get through flow charts characters and plays.
Regardless, fighting games are not a race, they are a marathon.
Also, Tekken has always been full of mashers. Every fighting game ever has been full of mashers. You can outplay them, you just need to learn how.
Combos are not broken. If you are getting juggled to death its because you are playing unsafe and getting punished for it. It's your fault. Not theirs.
I suggest going online and looking at the thousands of tutorial videos out there and try and understand the game. It's not easy. Tekken is an incredibly complex game but its worth sticking with
Good luck!
Who is the meta character?
Idk about blance, but if they set you up for same combo - you gotta learn how to not eat the bait. There are insanely good tools with replays, not only you get exact move you should've used, but you can also replay that moment and control your character to try and fix it. Getting launched is the issue here, learn not to be launched
Tbh combo is something I hate about Tekken, it felt a lot more about mindgames and 50/50 in T3 which is when I started, but hey, you now can recover your HP after being juggled, not so bad, huh?
And you got best tools ever nowadays, even without the external resources
If you think they are just mashing - why aren't you punishing it? Learn your framedata, go through punishment training, it's just a few clicks until you literally click "punishment training". Again, you can set to play against that almighty meta char to learn matchup
Are you sure you're not mashing? These kinda posts imply you're not much ahead in understanding the game's mechanics. Learn your character, lab the replay where you got beaten. Go through your key moves, figure out cool setups, your character's strenghts, learn which move has which purpose, each one is a tool for specific scenario. Watch some online guides, some character-specific stuff, Tekken mechanics are very deep, and there is more to this game than just the looks
Tbh for me the only frustration is that I don't have my main character in the roster atm. Reina's sick tho. And also limit for rematches, in T7 I'd rematch into oblivion even on a losing streak. Oh well
Tekken is a hard game, it's normal to suck at it after thousands of hours, but it's super fun and very rewarding, you will get better with time and you will feel it. Godspeed
May be you are not familier with current fighting game online.
CPU job is entertain player.
Other player work on beat other player. It is same as arcade era.
Online battles are end contents, better to learn offline first.
And the special style is nothing wrong, and good helper for beginers.
There's way to avoid, block make counter.
You just need to learn to get better.
If you don't like to learn, better to stay offline (with CPU battles)
Everyone online is like that. Ever since approximately 2012.
They won't be annoying anymore, but easy wins.
Also I don't know if it's just me, but most of my ranked games are great even though I'm still low rank right now.
Lots of people seem to have a nice behaviour, most people rematch, few refuses (only those who realize spamming doesn't work).
Can't stress this enough.
The replay mode and its features take away any and all excuses anyone could ever have about opponents doing things that you don't know how to deal with.
But being a scrub isn't a skill level, it's a mentality and most people have scrub mentality, they'd rather get annoyed, complain and quit the game, instead of learning from their mistakes and get better.
I understand that Tekken can be really frustrating at lower levels, there's so many moves and options that you can get caught by if your opponent is just dong things mindlessly.
So to the OP, try to use your armoured moves more, they can really blow up mashers if you time it correctly.
