Why do other character's ranks go up with your main rank?
My main char's rank is now Mighty Ruler so obviously my rank for other characters go up as well. I want to try out Reina and learn how to play her but how the ♥♥♥♥ am I supposed to learn if her rank is on Dominator and I barely know how to move with her and just get curb stomped by orange ranks? Maining other characters doesn't mean I magically get better with other characters Bamco

Fundamentals and growth in game-awareness happens regardless of the character you play-

Namco assumes that if you reach Mighty Ruler, you should have a grasp of those fundamentals and other applicable knowledge.

Because of this- Your other characters will rank up to a similar but lower rank- to decrease smurfing, and to speed-up the ranked process for your other pocket characters.

Probably to stop a Tekken God from blowin up Initiate ranks by switching to a second character. When you get good at one character, you're improving at all characters through the knowledge you've acquired. You might not know the optimal combos for a new character, but you're still going to understand the correct spacing and the dangers different characters/stages present. A lot of the concepts and tech are transferable between characters.. you're only really challenging yourself with the task of familiarizing yourself with a new character, not the entire game.. So you have an advantage compared to someone who's logging on for their first day.

u still need to know the spacing of ur characters ranged tho. bad move imo.
It's kinda dumb honestly and I've always thought so

Probably because I'm a character specialist and being pushed to purple with a character I don't have experience with is more than a little challenging

LOL It is not a bad move- Do you have any idea how long and boring it would be to take multiple characters from Rank 0 all the way to [INSERT HIGH RANK HERE]?

It's to not only save the newbies, but also help you out.

It's not fun getting my ass kicked all the way down to green man which is where I would belong

Tekken characters are too specialized for the switch of skills to be so drained

What's my launcher? What frame at? What are my good lows of any? How do I do this

It's fun to learn new characters but I should be playing with people also struggling to understand their characters like I would be with a new character

Because the design is dumb.

So you don't get the same noob stomping smurfs in the low ranks like you do in Granblue Fantasy Rising

One of my friends peaked Shinryu as Dragunov and I peaked Mighty Ruler with Jin. We play player matches quite a few times cuz we're good friends but also to teach him how to play the game. I'm only a few ranks above him so how is it that despite using his own character against him and not even knowing a single combo, I still win a lot of matches when I've only been playing Jin in like the 40 hours I played this game? Playing fundamentally sound is how. He throws out launchers in the open, using snake edge without really hiding it, low parrying common strings like 1,2,4 (im just guessing that's the input for that string from how it looks, i never touched dragunov in practice). I didn't even have to move to beat him in half the matches until he got a little better a month ago. So imagine if I suddenly decided to pick a different character and I'm just beating on a poor new player with Kuma because they don't know a single fundamental thing about playing Tekken

just play her and derank, u dont loose TK points by deranking, once u learn the character u will rank up again quickly.
Losing is part of the learning process. Ranked DOES NOT MATTER and one will not simply develop skills just by grinding ranked. If youneed to take the time to lab and learn or play some casuals or do a bit of homework to pick up something new? That's all part of the journey. At its core this feature is just there to make it easier for folks wanting to level alt characters who have a grasp of the core tekken mechanics that ALL characters use. Because at the end of the day? Putting your day 1 reina against somebody at beginner rank? Unless that guy has hours of play only in casual? You're going to stomp him.

Because learning new characters is easy. It's your knowledge, game sense and reflexes that make you whatever rank you are.

If you don't want to eat losses to learn a new character then spend some time in the lab before jumping into ranked.
This shows lack of understanding how fighting game skill goes.

Yes, you can play one character, and face the entire roster and know the fundamentals.
I play King. I can pick up Kazuya and do farly well. Hell, I can even PEWGF because I can Beast Step, and that used to take a lot more precision than your average Mishima wavu.
I also secondary Armor King, so yeah the wavu stuff is a complete joke to me.

I can go down the roster and while I can't do advanced stuff with everyone, I can indeed do the bare basic stuff. That's more than enough to completely wipe the floor with low ranks. That's the reason for everyone else ranking with your main. You're still gonna curbstomp beginners.

And if you want to rankk everyone and then go "waaa I'll lose no way" then guess what? That's why you suck. You should never be afraid of losing. Or get angry over it. It's natural to want to win and feel let down that you didn't, but insulting your opponent over a fair and square match is nonsense. You win some, you lose some. Even the GOATs lost a ton of matches, and that goes for every single game. You should never forget that, and if you look up to a pro who's like that, guess what? Find better role models. Do you see a brawl breaking out on EVO floor? No? There you go. Respect is key.

So, yeah. It's to prevent curbstomps because they WILL happen even if you never ever touched a character in your life. Fundamentals remain, and knowledge based off your matches stays.

it just feels stupid that you have to fight 440 000 prowess yoshi mirror for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ raijin promotion while having 230 000 prowess. God of destructions playing secondary characters should fight tekken kings or emperors to say the least.
