For 13/14th Gen Intel CPU + NVidia users
Today I updated the Nvidia drivers from 546.65 to 551.23 and after the update, I tried to play Tekken 8 and when the game started I got immediately high CPU usage and I assumed that it was recompiling the shaders after the driver update as usual. After a minute the PC crashed with BSOD with the CPU reaching 100C and I power cycled the PC.

Once I got into Windows I checked what happened and I found that Tekken 8 was using a higher resolution than my 1440p native monitor one under GameUserSettings.ini:

LastUserConfirmedResolutionSizeX=3620
LastUserConfirmedResolutionSizeY=2036

I checked Nvidia control panel 3D settings and found out that the latest driver update enabled DSR Factor to Legacy 3620x2036 and DSR Smoothness to 33% which also caused other games to crash my PC when try to play them, like RE HD Remake.

After disabling DSR in Nvidia Control Panel Tekken 8 started as usual only with the Out of Video Memory error as first launch and I was able to reset my graphic settings and restart the game without issues and now I'm currently playing with temps spiking up to 57C (it's summer in my region and my room is about 30C).

For background info. My setup is a i9-13900k + MSI Suprim Liquid X RTX 4090 and 128GB RAM ( full CPU-Z specs here: https://valid.x86.fr/1gq5u4 ). My AIO is very decent and my CPU reach 87C max at 100% usage in Cinebench r23. Before the driver update I have been playing since day 1 using driver 546.65 with no crashes or other issues and only got the Out of Video Memory error the first time I opened the game on launch day.

If you have a similar setup and are facing crashes, disable NVidia DSR in control panel.

I have a similar PC setup to yours and haven't noticed anything you write. Try playing at your monitor's native resolution and check that you don't have software running in the background

Lots and lots of 13th/14th gen and nvidia users having this problem.

I hadn't noticed that the new drivers enabled DSR in the control panel, I will look at that when I get home.

For me, I have just been playing in win 8 compat mode, and dealing with the CTD every 20-30 minutes.

i9-13000kf
RTX 4090
64GB RAM
WIN 11

I didn't had an issue like this until today after updating the drivers. Sometimes NVidia drivers enable options after updates and somehow Tekken 8 doesn't like NVidia DSR.

I'm playing with no issues with my CPU at stock core ratios and no Windows compatibility changes after disabling DSR.

Bro if it's 100C try replacing thermal paste/tightening down your cooler.

Once mine was just a little loose and 100C, slightly tightened and 30C

My CPU is properly installed with good thermal paste and it has great thermal performance. It idles between 35-38C which is great for 13-14th gen CPUs. Playing other latest games like Returnal/RE4 Remake CPU temp spikes never goes over 70C when loading data or compiling shaders and in average stays between 45-50C when gaming.

There is something weird in how Tekken 8 compiles shaders on startup and how it behaves with Nvidia DSR.

I'm on 13900k and 4090, i found a possible solution for the Out of memory issue that i've now tested in 3 UE5 games with success.

Go to NVIDIA control panel -> manage 3d settings and set shader cache in global settings to be 10gb (just ensure you have harddrive space for it)

This issue is happening on all UE5 titles using DirectX 12 when shaders are being compiled for some reason.

This didn't work for me

A week since its release and I haven't had 1 single crash with my 14900k and Rtx 4090

That's why you reported crashes in the support thread:

https://steamcommunity.com/app/1778820/discussions/0/4147320059828738890/?ctp=3#c4147320059830208986

On my end, I have had crashes twice, after I disabled DSR the game runs fine with no crashes so far. But the crashes are affecting other players and that's a stability issue on the game and UE5 that BAMCO must address in future patches.

Additionally, it seems that undervolting the CPU may also be causing instability issues for some users.

It wasn't for me, but for those who presented it

Edit Power Plan> Change Advance Power Settings> Processor Power Management>Minimum Processor State and make sure its at 1%. See if that helps..
