Tekken 7 has more customization than this, in fact everything about Tekken 7 seems to be better than this game why is that?

I thought bigger number = better game?

it's trash af, all generic ♥♥♥♥ barely any unique costumes, can't equip a character's unique costume and pair it with ajnother top or bottom or shoes...

There are so few options it is genuinely annoying. I made a lot of character cosplays in T7, can't remake any of them in 8. The fact Steve doesn't have an option for a proper boxing attire is absolutely disappointing.

Why didn't they just port all the stuff from T7 into 8 and add some more?

Its disappointing to see u copying my sentence but still saying nothing accurate, Customisation looks decent. Yeah it's not a Tekken 6, but the variety of looks for characters we'll see online will be inifinitely more diverse compared to other modern fighting games. There's enough for people to have their unique takes, just look on ytb. they already made a good job on graphics and story animations. And tbh if ur looking only for customisation u can stop playing and go on sims, Tekken is a pro fighting game. I know u'll be upset a little but i wont answer u anymore i'll close this useless debate.

It's even stranger than I thought. Quite a lot of the customisation options have gone backwards to a greater degree than I previously noticed. For example, if you equip a head item like a headband, you can only do it with your character's default hair, and hair in general is now mono-tone and only has one part rather than the customisable bangs etc in some of the previous games. Certain colours are also locked out on some items, only they actually aren't because you can save the colour you want into 'favourite colours' and apply it to a piece that usually wouldn't allow it.

What's particularly bizarre about all this is that SC6 does it extremely well, is by the same dev, and made shedloads of money selling content packs. If I'm being very charitable, I'll blame it on UE5, perhaps there was a technical reason why some options were harder to add this time around.

T8 actually has more content at launch than T7 had.
Tekken 7 even bowling was behind a paywall that was added later. Ball however in T8 since launch.
And the soundtrack argument where 70% in T7 is dubstep compared to variety that any other Tekken offers and delivers. For me the gameplay is fine in T8. However you may start writing why you think it sucks compared to T7. Beacause some movesets are altered and you have to adapt a little to play your mains is prob the only issue. Which is tottally common if you played the previous games.

Lazy customisation, half-assedly copy-pasted from T7; making it worse by default, and a lot worse, given it's stripped down compared to the previous game. Literally, zero incentive to unlock / buy 99% of it.

Also, the volleyball mode is trash -- should have be proper volleyball (with PvP and co-op), and bowling was much better.

People wanted Ball already in T7. Why are you whining about the copy paste? Tekken 7 customization is basically copy paste from TAG2 so why wasnt that the issue in T7 but in T8 it apparently now is? Oh right prob only played T7 to make the assumption.

(I also want to add how poor the T7 models look compared to TAG2 damn what a downgrade) At least T8 looks like a proper descendant.

I think you just answered your own question... It's also compounded by the fact that Tekken gameplay hasn't changed much in decades; making anything else it lazily copy-pastes, look that much more apathetic.

Having said that, MK1 is the same, only much (much!) worse; and SF6's non-fighting game mode/s are just wasted disk space for anyone not under legal PG13 age... So, it's more about the "pay more for less" trend in gaming, than it is a critique of Tekken 8 specifically.
