Tekken 7 vs Tekken 8 ?
So now that the game has been out for 3 days, how is the game ?

For me, at the moment i kinda feel that i prefer T7 more..
Maybe still haven't fully transitioned from the way I play T7 to T8 but the game in T8 just feel very jarring at the moment... and I think heat smash shouldn't be a thing as it cheapens the game as a whole...

When both players play neutral.. I feel in a certain way it fulfills that fantasy of being in an actual martial artist combat and is very fun since you cant escape as you can in T7... on the other hand it also means that if you are playing against character that + frames you all the time it can be a genuine nightmare especially since if you tried to escape they will just run toward you and + frame again... (I know I can SS, but once you got trapped in + moves is what I am trying to say)...

the new tornado animation is also very jarring.. its just doesnt make sense for someone to kick someone upward only for them to spin... at least in T7 most of the move that spins you comes from the character actually doing a spinning kick.. so the motion feels more believeable (like josie 33, or dragunov 44)...

and rage art and rage drive i feel is still superior compared to heat system since having access to additional mixup mind game during low health also promote that additional risk and reward of choosing between using rage drive or rage art. Do I use rage drive for a safer pressure or combo extension.. or do i hold it in case the enemy push button a lot so i can punish them with RA...

maybe it will get better.. Ill keep playing and see how it goes...

Yeah Heat still feels overwhelming to me.
Sometimes I am just like "Huh? What just happened?"

Especially Victor and Raven teleporting all over the screen lol

I dont know really. I just got done with the story mode and havent had much time to delve into the other systems too much yet. The story was really rough in T8, although it wasnt great in T7 so I guess thats not really a decider. Up to around the middle of T8's story mode it was doing fine, but after that point it got really unbearable.

They recycled devil jins rage art as a cut scene like 5 times, a bunch of characters just served no story purpose and the final forms for the 2 main characters Jin [i1.sndcdn.com] and Kazuya [static.wikia.nocookie.net] where some of the worst designs I have seen in any fighting game.

The decision to change Jins combo routing every time he sneezed for the final portion of the game also made that part really irritating.

I'm going to start diving into other modes as time allows here this week.

The lack of cool guest characters is also a pretty big hit against T8

The new tornado animation is indeed upsetting… feels like they are being pulled by a string mid air as it happens in movies. T7 one is so much smoother, literally an eye candy compared to the new one

Strings have more tracking in Tekken 8 than they did in T7. Victor is a major offender in my experience:

In Tekken 7, you could dominate just about any match with superior movement and unseeable pokes, aka the Korean playstyle. That isn't the case any more with heat, your opponent gets to stick to your hands like glue all day and force mixups 24/7. Criticism aside, I'm still playing the game and having some fun, especially since ranking up has never been this lenient.

main downfall of t8 - small character roster, plus to that i miss my main - lLidia Sobeska, enjoyed playing that char

At the begining I didn't like Heat system, but now that I am trained and know matchup... easily Tekken 8 is the best Tekken. I just hope Lei Wulong, Anna and Marduk will come fast to the party.

Needs a balance patch or ten but I like it better than T7

Maybe after 40 balance patches T8 but for now T7 is just the better game period

T7 is boll0cks. T8 is feels noticeably smoother and less janky in comparison, making it the better game without any contest.

T7 is the most over-rated 3d fighter ever.

Too early to compare, but T8 overall as-of-now. Fast rematch alone makes it so much easier to keep playing

even with that you have more matches in t7 due to endless rematches in casual/quickplay. sure there is a loding time between matches but you are not forced out of the match all the time and have to seek another opponent while declining wifi players.
