Customization is worse than 7

How did they manage to make it worse? Character outfits are locked to being full body instead of being broken up between upper and lower like the last 3 games, meaning you can't mix and match generic pieces with the characters base. Some outfits (like kings for example) can't change the colour of all components despite having 13 colour channels to play with.

Every male has the same 51 upper body options, which are just 10 types of upperbodywear with different color zones, retexturing etc. 27 types of lowerbody, split across: 1 type of shorts, 5 gi bottoms, 2 combat pants and the rest are all jean/suit/track variants. 18 shoes.

Whats worse is all of those costume parts are generic. There's no "pants with excessive belts" or "Motorcycle jacket with tons of padding". There's no wrestler gear, no samurai armour, no military fatigues, no goofy/wacky options at all. At a certain point you might aswell just remove the customisation option all together and just leave it at alternate costumes.

I'll also add, the game still has optimization problems. I'm above the recommendations spec wise, but I don't have it on all ultra. There is slowdown in the beginning of fights sometimes. Even losing a few frames mid fight. And the super ghost fights and arcade story mode don't really unlock a ton of awesome cosmetics like earlier tekkens. They will probably monetize very basic gear that was in earlier games........The fighting is good, I do think it comes across as being more complex, but it's easier with buttons mapped to different combinations. Wait for a sell.

I read somewhere that Harada said he regretted putting customization features in the game to begin with. I guess that's how he sees a $70 game.

Tekken used to have fully customizable hair. Hell, even the default outfits can be mixed and matched. TTT2 even went all out crazy with customizable patterns!

All we have now is default hair from other characters, the same boring tops and bottoms (recoloured just to make it seem like its a lot), eyes (which you dont really see when playing), and censorship. Even some of the default outfits designs are recycled from the previous game. Its sad.

Love the game franchise since forever but the customization for T8 is just bad.

T8 customization is actually very good but there are limited options to choose from. I hope they add more in future DLCs.

Someone at Reddit said most of the costumes = the oldschool teacher stereotype (not in these words, it was a ♥♥♥♥ post). They're not wrong, though.

Hopefully they'll bring some cool unlockable stuff for free, too, instead of going 100% DLC.
