Online Doesn't Work

"Cannot Communicate with Server"

This is all I've been getting since launch. Anyone else? I'd love to play the game I bought....

My good-faith assessment of the situation is that the Tekken launch had a myriad of issues with the servers affecting the majority of the players. They pinpointed and fixed the issues that affected the majority of the players.

But they didn't completely fix it and there are still plenty of people who can't play online at all, with their beefy rigs and fast internet connections. So now all of the people who couldn't play before are now singing their praises, claiming the game is "fixed", and are even harassing people in the comments of user reviews telling people to change their reviews to "Positive" (despite it still not working for them) as well as leaving them Jester-awards.

Our voice might be getting drowned out by insane fanboys and the completely fake review-industry.

If that is indeed true- the key resellers and even legit Steam copies of the game may have been sold to players who cannot take part in the Tekken Online experience- I have no proof of this.... But if discovered true- that is pretty ridiculous and a huge oversight by Namco.

The fact that the game works with a VPN but not my regular connection would support the idea that they blocked regions by blocking specific subnets from connecting to the game.

For example, could they be limiting who could play online until their online servers can handle more capacity? If gaming journalism was real and not just promotion for the games featured in those publications, then someone would caught wind of this by now and made a big deal about it.

Battlefield 4 didn't work for most players online on the PS4 until a couple months after launch. Do you know which publications helped spotlight the issue so that it would get fixed quicker? None lol.

Not necessarily. I can only play with VPN otherwise it just doesn't connect to the servers. I say "play" but it takes 10 minutes to get one match and even then its a ♥♥♥♥ connection. However, some play normally without a VPN in the same country as me. It could be an ISP issue or NAT related.

vpn lets me connect to the servers too. Haven't tried a match yet though.

Can't play online since I bought the game. VPN doesn't help either. I'm getting this error:

Failed to connect to the network.
Online mode is unavailable.

I believe these are artificial restrictions for some countries of the regions. People paid money for this game, and Harada pissed on their faces in gratitude.

Even VPN isn't working for me. So if this is really restricting IPs or countries, then this is beyond stupid. This is a fighting game and not a lot of people play these kind of games. Secondly they are disrespecting the people who bought their game. I live in a third world country with bad economy and I STILL bought their game at full price. Which is a lot of money for me. So I can't play the game I paid money for. Shameless and Outrageous.

Hopefully this helps someone but I also got the "failed to communicate with the server" issue. Using a vpn worked around it but its kinda laggy.

What fixed it for me was just to disable network adapters that I didn't think was necessary and that fixed that issue for me.

In my case it was RadminVPN to simulate "lan" with friends of mine, so I just disabled the network adapter for radmin and now I can play online, hope this helps.

Works perfectly fine. My problem was I was unaware steam signed out my profile.

Just wanted to update my thread saying that I'm finally able to play online, but it only works when I use ProtonVPN. It's not ideal having to use a paid VPN, particularly because it adds a small amount of latency...but I just played a handful of matches. Won all of them. Latency was low (said the average was 1 dropped frame). I'm on WiFi, but it's connected to my PC via wired so I suspect I show up as a wired player.

Had a lot of fun. Probably going to have some drinks and hang out online tonight. I still can't connect to the Fight Lobby avatar mode though...oh well, I guess that's less important.

I have this problem like for a 2 weeks now, i live in Ukraine, not in Crimea or DNR/LNR but according to my provider they got an IP ban. Im using Triolan provider. Can play only using VPN

So i paid for the game, got contry IP ban after 3 months of release and Bamco cool with this? Damn.

my game was working fine suddenly it stopped working online network issues other games working fine but not teklen 8 so its a game issue not internet

Бро, слушай, а ты сейчас каким впном пользуешься и не пофиксил ли прослучайно проблему другим способом? Сделал сейчас с впном, зашло, есть подлаги, но работало минут 20, а потом жестко отключаться начало, я скачал пленет впн десктопную версию, мб знаешь что-то постабильнее

Используй X-VPN. Решение всех проблем. Пинг от 75 до 100, порой нужно пороллить немного и протокол в настройках поставить HTTP-3.

Ну и самое главное, что платить не нужно. :3
