Fighting games ought to get cheaper, not more expensive

Because a higher price restricts matchmaking.

Fighting games need active users across all or most skill levels in every region for healthy online matchmaking, and increasing the barrier to entry will reduce the number of overall active players. Mildly interested players (like me) will be very unlikely to buy the game at this increased price or will wait for a sale several months down the road, and it impacts the players that do buy it right away at a high price.

I harped on both SF6 and KoF XV for being $60 USD (I think kof suffered from its high price A LOT because it's a niche fighting game to begin with), not so much on Granblue for being $50, but games that depend so much on active multiplayer should not be increasing their barrier to entry IMO.

MK11 suffered the same fate apparently. So its highly probable they will not fix it.
Either way, if u had intentions on purchasing MK1, now spending $140 on it will be a difficult decision.

Actually I spent $54 on it through an online Best Buy black friday sale. Granted the DLC is expensive, I will admit. Which is why I only have the base game. I believe in the devs, you don't. Time will tell who is right. I enjoy MK1.

Skill and adaptability has nothing to do with patience and skill.
They have some patience as they are waiting on the price, I'd bet either risking 3rd party issues, or waiting 6 months for a sale or both.

Letting others build into the 3 decade year old franchise making it a arduous process when they do get the game.

But Tauting is tangled and matted together or to not allow give or slack, which they are not doing by waiting to have a harder time online testing their patience.

Touting would be more closer to the variable.

Huh? They don't need to make the game f2p. All it takes is two people to start a match. F2p games are usually those that require a large number of players to be sustainable, such as Battle Royale games. Tekken 7 is, what, six years old and still has probably tens of thousands of active players.
If anything, fighting games are the worst possible candidate for a f2p model.

Not strictly f2p, I just want to see fighting games get cheaper. If this game were only $30 like Palworld (which sold around 10 mil copies apparently) then there'd be almost no excuse NOT to buy a game like this if you were even mildly interested. Profits might even top the higher price with the sheer amount of extra purchases.

True that you only need 2 people to match in fighting games, the matches themselves are shorter in comparison to other multiplayer games. More players to mm with means better quality matches too, meaning it'll be less likely you'll get paired with someone far away with really bad ping, a complete mismatch in skill, or repeat opponents.

I never want to see something like DOA again. I like how we can pay once, then one pass per season in TEKKEN and get all the cosmetics/characters we need vs the mess that DOA 5 is with DLC

That to me is the biggest barrier and hurdle to overcome. If players refuse to buy a $70 game, what makes you think they will pony up hundreds of dollars for new PC components, better internet solutions and next gen consoles?

The F2P model is all fine and well for games without F2P and servers to manage the lack of network stability (in some cases), but in this case- it seems like it would be a bad idea.

There is an another problem - cheaters. If the game will be f2p, then it will be unplayable. I do not like F2P idea at all..
