I love how Tekken just means "iron fist", a "tekken tournament" basically just means "a tournament for the one who can fight really, really well", and then that intro goes into a whole load of nonsense about "Tekken is the key to life", like it's the freaking Force from Star Wars, and then none of that nonsense even makes it into the movie.
Man, those 90s anime movies were such fun garbage.
you truly dont understand what tekken is if you think that. while the movie intro does get too philosophical, its message is to hone your willpower to survive and thrive.
in the movie we see Lee who doesn't believe in tekken lose to an injured kazuya easily and also all of Lee's weapons defeated because the robots and creatures are somewhat simple minded and dont value tekken.
we see michelle also fail to hone her tekken, she fights with emotion and has a "i see red bro" mentality. Kazuya on the other hand had to defeat himself for many years and be disciplined to gain his strength which we see payed off.
heihatchi also despite having such enormous power with his zaibatsu knows those resources are not enough. look how Lee constantly failed while in a senior position. heihatchi instead knows that tekken is the only thing that can truly pave a way in the chaotic world and bring order.
and finally while you may think okay maybe this only applies to the movie or tekken series, it actually applies to real life. how many people are stuck in dead end jobs or just live a life of consumerism not having any true purpose. if they honed their tekken, they could strive to achieve their true dreams, not necessarily fighting, just in general.
There is a juggle breaker it's called don't be hit with wildly unsafe launchers, or punish them. this is the "juggle breaker"
These two speak for me as well. I tried the demo and CBT and it just does not play well on top of bad music the majority of the time. Too many easily fixable problems that are actually tied to the core gameplay [for bad/lazy reasons] so we know those problems are actually intentional and they think it would be good. Means they've lost their sight.
and the rumors of continued bad netcode is just depressing. I'm going to skip Tekken. I think most fighting games are deteriorating in the same vain. Bad autocombos, same style of play:
And they stopped making the 3D aspect a serious thing in 3/4 or thereabouts, hell, honestly perhaps even since 2.
Shame because I was looking forward to this but it just plays badly. Once again in gaming, trying to capture a casual audience for money ruins another franchise.
I think we're just simply set for a brief decline. Maybe what they're doing with Tekken 8 won't be the most popular decision, but it'll be refined over time. It could be something they're doing now so they can prepare for things later on, just like with Tekken 4. I'm not saying your thought is wrong because let's face it, they can't hit the bullseye every time. Yet it wouldn't surprise me if they took what they added and improved upon it to the point where they do bring back the defensive options, poking, etc, but just reward aggressive play more. I don't know if that will take another installment, but again, looking at what happened with 4, it wouldn't surprise me in the least.
Even still, I don't think I'm asking them to hit a bulls eye. The problems I find are some basic core design issues in the combat they intentionally made, like, it's clear they want you to play that way. And rather dull to bad music with very few exceptions. It's a fighting game after all, they have relatively less to do than other genres. I shouldn't be seeing such problems in the combo flow or even just hits whiffing/connecting when they shouldn't. My most egregious experience was a otg paul siderolling through my Law's dragontail move, a move with the homing attack property designed specifically to hit sidestepping enemies. And yet a CPU paul rolled right through it as if he was invulnerable.
Most recently a CPU Feng did some crazy 180 that I don't think is possible for human players. Like he was locked on to me as if this was a modern Team Ninja game where the tracking is dialed up to 100%. He was twisted so much that his model was facing toward the screen in recovery animation when he hit me as I jumped over him.
I have to wonder about the physics engine itself. It seems almost like a dial-a-combo rather than one based on some 3D physics. Idk, just trying to figure out what's so weird about this system. It's like a mirage instead of a fighting game system. SF sorta gets a pass simply because it's not pretending to be 3D.
Hopefully then, this will be Harada’s last Tekken just like SFV was Ono’s last Street Fighter.
Yes, you revitalized the game, you brought it back into the limelight, but now you’ve overstayed your welcome and your decisions have started to become detrimental to the series. Time for someone else to take the helm and turn it in a better direction like how SFV improved after Ono left and a better team took it over.
Just a hurt fan is all. Never feels good to see franchises go down even though they make money from casual fans and look prettier. It's all so shallow.
That is called ws cancel
as you stand back up, if you press a direction to interrupt the while rising then you can do things like ff or f*df or jumping back .
you cancel the while rising, and you skip to standing options
If hes back turned and you jump over him he can time that jump you did with, d or df then u, then attack normally while facing you.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsGD3J9aQjQ similar example
while in back turn D*d
NVM I forgot.
And I have to admit I find it weird you gave a clip about Soul Calibur when the subject is Tekken.
Just like with any other fighting game. Strategy, timing, patience and execution. Or S.T.P.E for short.
