In the 2000s wrestling games barely contained any females, only in recent years the 2k series started shifting towards including the women's division and we have to thank female wrestlers for suffering throught the "Divas" title times to get equally treated in main events etc. This translated into video games I think.
But since DoA is my main fighting game series I can tell you two things:
Number one the males they got are really awesome dudes. I feel like despite being not the main selling factor over their pixle booba counterparts, Team Ninja still delivers very good males, be it real classics like the overprotective and over the top showoff wrestling father Brass, who also works on an oil rig. Or the foreign legion soldier Leon who can't stop thinking about his deceased wife. And even in the last part (that was not that great in general) they managed to scramble together Diego who is just such a good visual concept I have no words.
And number two DoA is in really rough waters and has been there for years. The last installment sucked and failed miserably due to a lack of quality control and after release updates. It was just a graphics upgrade and otherwise abandonware. Then the team set out to forget about DoA 6 and make part 7 instead. And in the wake of metoo and internet social movements got a lot of friendly fire by the big tech companies, that are needed to get the game on their consoles. Thus the game was cancelled after some lead guy left in frustration. And after a long break Koei suddenly decided to start developping from scratch again - since then total radio silence. I don't expect this to end with another DoA as we are used to playing. Just an estimation, but whenever Koei has been trying to reboot their Dynasty Warriors Series (different in house team, but doesn't matter) the result was some sort of mess no one wanted to have.
Women, in general, have no real interest in such activists, by themselves. It's usually because of another man (usually the father), because of tradition and or core family values or because they saw a badass female on the media and decided to follow in their footsteps because they thought it was cool.
Face the facts. It's everything but the "joy" of battle or knowledge of the arts. Guaranteed.

no its cause the historical tribes that supported women fighters and patriarchy died out because of war politics.
there were plenty of various groups that were equal rights, some were even equal to even their slaves where work was treated with reward.
Not all places were ruled under predominant men.
They were just crushed by larger armies that used classes of people as livestock and breeding usually emperors tyrants and empowered agencies of various faiths usually random guesses.
More or less a combination of overpopulation and aggressive tactics; and the occasional chicken sacrifice pointing on a map when asking whimsy of the sages and mystics.
They do? I haven't seen enough footage of T8 yet to form an opinion. There was only one playable female in the demo.
Im pretty sure they dont seeing as their hands and feet are shaped different as well as their faces and hair styles. Unlike T7 where it was pretty obvious.
That was mostly true in Tekken 7 (I think Lydia was an exception) but the same was also true of most of the men having the same one body shape. It was an issue of budget, especially since they switched to UE4 to make that game so corners had to be cut. And even despite that fact the character designs carried the artstyle, so even though they had the same body they never felt the same, which shows they actually worked on making the most of their limitations.
Of course T8 has a bigger budget so they can actually do more nowadays, but in the end who cares? As long as they don't literally look and feel exactly the same they technically succeeded. But most of this talk is related to game design and working within time/money limits, something most people either can't or won't care about, but it least helps to know how things can end up when it's not all up to the people actually making the game itself.
There are already enough girls and men lol
Oh damn, I never actually noticed that. I guess the outfits do a good job at hiding it.
