Also I would highly recommend forcing DLAA on in your game if you are on Nvidia. https://github.com/emoose/DLSSTweaks/releases
By default they are so soft and bright, that from a difference they are barely visible.
I noticed that bringing the shadows down to medium, makes them darker, so I did that first, then used .ini tweaks to bring the quality back up
r.Shadow.MaxResolution=8192
r.Shadow.RadiusThreshold=0.01
r.Shadow.SpotLightTransitionScale=512
r.Shadow.CSM.MaxCascades=16
r.Shadow.MaxCSMResolution=8192
I believe Shadow.MaxResolution has the most impact but I applied the other stuff anyways, if too sharp for you just lower to 4096 (but don't go lower)

Glad to help out.
Legend!
I think this is more of a mod thing than an engine.ini tweak one. I don't know, I could be wrong. Though I am sure that modders will completely remove hit effects in this game when it releases. Also there are separate hit effect options in character customization as well, so we will see when the full game releases.
I believe the ambient occlusion and Screen space reflections entries dropped my frames a lot. When I performed some heat engagers (Kazuya's for example) my frames would dip from 60 to 45-50. I have everything maxed out in the setting so maybe that also plays a role.
Thanks for these. I'll be doing a lot of fiddling to find the best settings with these when the games launches. Only a month left now!
Camera motion blur can always gtfo out though.
Can you elaborate more what steps you took to apply these? Also your in-game settings and resolution.

Holy sh*t!!! A massive improvement and still stable 59/60 fps.
