the ps5 is about a 2070 equivalent so if you can't match a console at least, it's time to upgrade
UE5 doesn't mean it's good or bad in performance. UE5 just the engine, not the game itself.
That's almost like saying, i use Windows 10, how is the performance for game xy.
Tekken 8 is actually an example how well balanced UE5 could be. It's even stable on steamdeck. (at least what we know from Demo/Beta)
UE5 is not designed for next gen only. Next gen is an option, but UE5 has lots of options, e.g. industrial simulation and automation and animated movies.
GTX1050ti is a very old gpu and you will run into issues even with medium-new games, but that's unrelated to UE5.
That could possibly be because you are running those games at higher resolution, T8 always have some sort of upscaling applied, so you need to downsample from a higher res if you want to run at the native res of your display.
The game forces DLSS or FSR use (along with a few other performance upscaling options and also weirdly enough no actual way to turn the setting off). DLSS Balanced or Performance will probably be your best bet for good performance on what hardware you have, but you can get a better gauge on that by messing around with the options in the demo and playing a quick Vs NPC match.
Edit: Changed wording for DLSS since game doesn't allow for DLSS version change unlike FSR.
It seems like UE 5 is more efficient than UE 4 and can run on the Nintendo Switch which is not close to being as powerful as the Steam Deck.
That might explain why the 1050 Ti is the minimum spec and that is just amazing because Tekken 7's minimum spec is the 1050. Both are basically the same GPU but the 1050 Ti has 4 GB VRAM and 768 cuda cores while the 1050 has 2 GB VRAM and 640 cuda cores.
I played Tekken 7 on 720p with stable 60 fps on the 1050 and I think you would have to tone the graphics down to 720p with the 1050 Ti for T8. My CPU at that time was a dual core two thread one that topped out at 3 GHz.
Now I have a much more powerful system in the form of a laptop with a RTX 3060M and i7 12700 cpu with 16 GB DDR5 RAM (old computer had just 8 GB DDR3 RAM).
You should be able to keep your current CPU but an AMD RX 6400 or 6500 XT is at least twice as fast as the 1050 family of GPUs and more efficient.
Not only UE 5 is impressive but so is the Namco team that does the Tekken series because Tekken 7 was pretty polished on day one when it came out which is saying something especially with how unpolished PC games are at launch these days.
Great to hear!
I normally turn shadows or Post Processing down a tad anyway these days and any issues of this nature tend to resolve. Ultra Performance helps as well.
Only major issue im having a LowLevelFatalError crash when i try to launch arcade quest. No idea whats causing that one.
Outside of that, game feels good at least in the vs mode. Hope the onlines not crap. No FPS drops mid-fight or on most/all screens regardless of settings (all high)
