Anyone else having problems the game not recognizing this stick? Seeing as it's one of the most popular arcade sticks ever... would be shocked if it wasn't supported

ah okay weird... I had to put it into ps4 mode with a dual sense also plugged in to get it working

Weird. My qanba pearl, which is essentially the same stick, works in pc mode no problem. Have you tried updating the sticks firmware?
