I got base edition for 20% off. Most of these new released games can be bought with a discount if you look for it. Also you can buy from places that have rewards for buying.
thats 93.99$+provincial tax and government sales tax,
and most recently ps5 and series x games are 93.99$ which is alot more, then expected
games used to be 93$ with the same double taxes at 89.99$
and a few years before current inflation it was 79.99 which was 80 something bucks,
before that inflation in 2013,
games in canada used to cost 60$ which was like 70$ with double taxes,
so 200$ is not far off for canada prices.
Subs won't save them...that only makes their product much worse...and another few years later...it'll all be gone.
In many cases, gaming is already a quasi casino -- what, with all it's loot boxes, gacha, design philosophies involute to addicting consumers et al.. So, it's clear that the target market that the industry is aspiring to corner, are those who are most easily milked, and who will most likely become hooked... Kind of like the big pharma model applied to gaming.
It's a cold, hard fact they aren't moving enough units at these 90+ dollar price points, so it's not just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
"Hurr in the 90s games cost..." yeah, what did everything else cost, though? Spoilers: Much less
