Shiravune... I'm starting to become a fan of these guys. They just keep releasing new translations nonstop, one after another like it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nothing. Something that I'd never have thought possible in this medium, but here we are. Just wish they could put more of their games here on Steam, like the Marmalade ones. I got nothing against Johren really, but denuvo is borderline malware, and Steam is just more convenient I guess...
Now, about Ninki Seiyuu, I'm liking the game a lot. It's 100% about the VA industry but it's written in the style of a romantic comedy. It got an educational but goofy sort of feel. The story premise at the beginning is kinda cliché but well executed, with all the fun shenanigans the setting allows. My impression of the heroines so far is Itsumi > Imouto > Yukako

If you've seen Shirobako, Ninki Seiyuu is similar in that it allows us to get a closer and more thorough look at how the things we love come to life. In this case specifically: seiyuus or voice acting.

For the most part, the narrative was lighthearted and entertaining. Of course, there was drama here and there, but they did a nice job of not dragging it out too long. The characters were lovable, and the interaction between the casts was fantastic. Overall, the VN is surprisingly good, but I wish it could have been a little longer.

The art style was what drew me to this VN. It is, without a doubt, quite appealing and attractive. I did some research on the artist and discovered that they've just worked on Ninki Seiyuu thus far. I genuinely hope they will begin working on a new project in the near future.

Shiravune's team has been on fire lately, bringing us plenty of new titles. Although their translations might have been a little too liberal at times, I get the impression that the translating team is having a good time with it, and I appreciate their efforts. Keep up the good work, Shiravune!

Still waiting for Noa Route

The story is nice but I would suggest buying directly from Johren store.

Reason is steam version removed THE ENTIRE route of imouto heroine Konatsu.
Remove hscene? sure. Remove route....er.....no thanks.

Other than that. the 2 routes left are pretty nice, so yeah, I would love to recommend this game, but I can't for the steam version.
18+ patch adds back imouto route, yes, but it adds the hscene back, and the reason we are getting the all-ages version is because reading we want to have the option to progress the story without the risk of a hscene appearing when its most inconvenient irl.

If someone knows a way to add back Konatsu's route, while leaving hscene out, then please share, if it works, I would recommend this for sure.

The usual love comedy with the guy staying inside a girls dorm. And bloom all sorts of mishaps and comedy similar to what the anime Shirobako has shown. In which gives you a glimpse on what the voice industry does and some wordings used overall it's a great VN to play with.

Ninki Seiyuu has it focus on voice acting and I could say it's 78% accurate like the steam description. Every character is likeable and the MC actually has a goal in mind in two out of three routes that the game offers.

Every characters, main and supporting are all likeable. No one is annoying and it makes it easy to read and complete. Everyone is really supportive about each other, but I'm not saying there's no conflict in this game. In fact, theres a lot of them here and there.

The Internal struggle within each character is always enjoyable, seeing how they develop to be a better person.

Technically, I can say this game is perfect in almost all aspects. You can actually skip dialogue right to next/last choices without waiting while holding that skip button. It has nice and contrast font. And the translation is really nice!

One thing that I'm not really happy about is how the choices we make doesn't change any scene that played. It just adds some variable for the game to process which route you'll end up with.

i.e. if there's an option to buy or not to buy the game, whatever you pick the scene will force you to play the "buy the game" scene, and add the variable to set which heroine you'll end up with.

But other than that, it's a fun experience.

The script is cluttered with a lot of pointless dialogue that does nothing to advance the plot, which caused me to fall asleep multiple times while playing.
And quick skipping may trigger a black screen issue during transition animations.

I enjoyed the voice acting premise. It was fun to see different aspects of the industry, even if they're exaggerated or skewed versions of reality. I liked some of the dynamics between characters, and would have liked to see more of Noa's character and more varied character art based on the context.

I didn't enjoy the routes very much. They feel very badly paced and lacking in inspiration. The choices have no impact on the initial common route, which makes it feel very linear due to how after you've finished one route, if you want to do another you're basically just starting the game again and skipping all the way to their route start, without anything interesting to discover in the initial main story with maybe a winding path or two.

Regarding the characters:

Kurusu was a bit meh in terms of voice delivery, often sounding flat and monotonous.
Seno had a great VA but it was very hollow route overall.

Overall it was only really interesting until the routes got into their strides, after which it got too generic.

I guess I’m just a sucker for these slice of life visual novels that have characters working real jobs. We had it earlier this year with Musicus! following the path to making a successful band and now Ninki Seiyuu - following the path to making a successful voice actress.

Nothing too grand here, but definitely not bad. Character designs are simple, yet effective for the type of story told. There are not that many backgrounds, but the backgrounds that are there are fine and the game isn’t really long enough to need too many of them anyways. Bonus points for having what appears to be native 1080p support though. Similar things can be said about the music. I wouldn’t say it’s good enough to listen to outside of the game, but it’s at least not grating and repetitive and that’s better than I can say for a lot of these VNs.

A central theme to the story is hard work and it’s honestly kinda refreshing to see a cast full of characters that are actually working hard to further their professional goals rather than just academic ones. The game does a good job giving you an insider’s look into the voice acting industry too, including explanations on different terminology and how the whole process works.

Instead of the usual romance triangle stuff, we get competitions on who lands a specific role or how a throat injury can threaten one’s entire career in this field. The story introduces such elements at a gradual pace, never really dumping them outright on you, but not taking its time either. I would say the whole thing is just above moderate pacing - getting you introduced to everyone quickly and thrown into this voice acting world just as quickly, but leaving enough time to get into the more intricate stuff along the way. The entire thing takes around 15 hours to clear, so it’s not a long game by any means.

The game jumps between the three main heroines throughout the common route before settling on just one depending on your choices up to that point. While I enjoyed some of the characters more than others (Yukako being my personal favorite), I didn’t outright dislike any of the characters either.

You get the serious, trying hard to succeed type that runs into many hiccups along the way, the soft-spoken, yet successful type that is having trouble socializing with others her own age, and the little sister type that doesn’t really know what she’s doing until later on and is just kinda thrown into this adventure without much preparation. They each have their quirks and fill specific tropes, but they’re all fun to interact with and especially so when overlapping with each other.

The protagonist too - I didn’t exactly start off the game caring all that much about him, but his character kinda grew on me as I played. Especially during the character routes, he really establishes himself as this all-around helpful guy. Not overly dense, hard-working, and with problems of his own that get resolved alongside the heroines.

You get this solid common route, a solid intro to each individual character route, but when it finally comes time for a confession and the romance to actually begin, the routes drop off hard. It’s weird because there is still effort put into telling each character’s individual story arc and that stuff is still interesting, but it’s like all the romance stuff is a mere afterthought on top of it.

There’s little in the way of dates, romantic slice of life stuff, or any of the other developments that we usually get in the genre. On one hand, yeah this does kind of allow the “working” side to the story to receive more focus - and that’s completely fine - but I don’t think it should come at the expense of not fully exploring these character relationships. It leaves the romance feeling not so much bad, just underdeveloped and it’s an absolute shame for how solid the rest of the writing is.

Shiravune may be pumping out a lot of these VNs lately, but I don’t recall seeing a single typo or grammar issue throughout and the only translation oddity I noticed was a pun that doesn’t exactly translate well into English. Settings-wise the game also does well. All the usuals plus some bonus ones, like multiple resolution options, an effect speed slider, a route guide hint that can be toggled, and a handful of fonts to choose from. It’s not the best I’ve seen, but better than the average.

For going in with practically no expectations, I was really surprised with what Ninki Seiyuu had to offer. It gives us an excellent spin on the usual high school romcom story, this time featuring professionals in the voice acting business and done so in a way that is both entertaining and educational. The romance may not be the most developed, but pretty much everything up to that point is solid and I had a great time reading through it over the past week.
