So how to get the *other* ending?

Spoilers obviously, I I have finished it three times always picking only moonlight keys and no option has been given to me after the fight. Always same ending, what is missing?

That guide is incorrect, that option never showed up, as reference I did every single side quest but the level 99 DLC one, and got yes every single moonlight key (4 of them), the first time I picked random answer so yea whatever, the second time I made sure to pick "I don't" and obtain the 4 moonlight keys and that changed nothing, the third time I was like Maybe I picked a wrong option let me redo that again and nope no change.

Did you enter all three of your friend's floor 5? If not, you need SL 100 on everybody, beat their final bosses at floor 4 and then step into floor 5 of everybody else. That's what gives you the option at the end.

No I ignored Arrow the crybaby, I did Milady and Saizo, I can't be bothered to do Arrow quest, I hate the guy, I guess I will just check the ending on youtube then.

If it bothers you that much, you can always hold RB (the Skip button) through all of the scenes.

THANK you! Same issue as OP, looking forward to seeing the real ending. A couple extra end game questions I’m having issues with (for anyone with knowledge)

-I’m at soul level 100-110ish and can’t raise it any higher. All I have left to complete is the aion quests, but without being able to raise my soul level I can’t progress further into floor 5.
-I’m missing a few demons. I’m assuming they are in the level 5 bosses for the characters?

Any ideas how to complete this? I also need 40 hangouts and a list of locations and where to get hangout items might be helpful.

Didn’t really enjoy this game, but I want to 100% it since I’m so close.

Your second run gives you bonus points for each decision. You can't hit 200 points for everyone in your first run. There are also a couple minor quests that are NG+ exclusive.

Both of the endings have an achievement tied to them, so you'd need a second playthrough anyway.

I just saved my game before the final boss and getting all the moon keys, should be good now that I got the fifth level opened up.

Are the extra demons locked behind the fifth level? Cause that’s all I can think of since I’m missing them.

As far as I'm aware, demons are unlocked through quests (regular & Axis) and soul level gates. So if you opened every gate, and have done every quest, then you might need a second run to get that cheev. Honestly, I was blackout drunk when I maxed mine out, but I want to say I had to wait until after doing -everything-.

Just to check, you have done the Special Summons, right?

The ones where you pick special summons below? Yes….I’m still missing three demons as I restarted

To get True Ending, you need to answer "I Don't" for all the responses and then "reach out" after the final boss on the cutscene. The Normal ending just answer whatever you wish in combination of "I do" and "I don't"
You can get both endings on 1 play through by saving before interacting with any of the souls in 24th ward final level "Bones"

Whether what triggers it, I'm not sure. I just finished the game and did all possible side quests (minus DLC since its not canon) and unlocked all soul matrix floors up to F5.
You CANNOT go any further into F5 as the first gate requires SL 125 and since there is no way to get the soul level required on your first run.

New Game+ carries over alot such as enemy data, map completion, compendium etc, but not soul levels. But NG+ does gives you exponential soul levels in dialogue choices which will net you close to Soul Level 200 near the end of the game on NG+

I too am missing 3 demons in the compendium, and those are high level ones that unlock in soul matrix F5. So you will need to basically finish close to the entire game again to get 100% compendium.

Hangouts and Meals almost require full exploration of the game, as the meals one is missable after beating boss in W shipping district, and Hangouts require items from demons on demon scouts. I got the achievement after getting the item from a demon scout in 24th ward.

Achievements that require NG+ (all others can be obtained in 1 playthrough if diligent about how you progress and explore)

About to finish my second play then can do the third so I can finish the stupid soul matrix’s. Then I have to do the repel damage and other achievements. Sigh. So close. This isn’t as big a pain as final fantasy x/x2 at least

For my first playthrough i did get the dialogue choice between the normal and the true ending after the final boss. That's what i did :

For the doors I had 1 sun and 3 moons and the Soul Levels was a bit above 100 for each characters (and i went in 5F in the matrice for each of them but couldnt complete it because Soul Levels were too low, NG+ is required). No idea if it matters but i did all sidequests (DLC too).
