Stuck at loading screen after game launch
launch game, loading icon in lower right screen aaaaaand... nothing :( saw a couple of threads on this such as opening GOG client and deleting files in under user file settings (I dont have this path on my C:\). Launched and played several times before I ran into this and I want to play! lol . Anyone have any luck or any other tips?

Same issue.

My theory is that something is getting corrupted that is sync'ing to the cloud, so when it syncs back, it's just pulling a bad config.

I'll know momentarily how close I am to the possible cause.

EDIT: Close. It looks like the game is getting stuck in an update loop.

EDIT2: Confirmed.

EDIT3: I published a guide with more specifics. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2854996754

This does not seem to work :( I delete the folder and start the game and still get stuck at the loading screen. The files and folder even mysteriously come back! Weird

Try going into offline mode first and then turn off cloud sync, I had to do that earlier after deleting the save data (leaving the autocloud file alone) and the game worked again, then when going online tell the steam cloud to sync using the local files and not the cloud storage data it has already. Granted I had two saves and only SAVE2 was causing the issue.

Sounds like it's sync'ing the corrupted files back down from the cloud.

In my case I had turned cloud sync completely off, then deleted the files and ran the game. I'm just not using cloud for this game, it seems like there's an issue.

EDIT2: Confirmed. I'm going to do a writeup to help others but...

If you're on Windows you'll need to delete the local data files. This MIGHT delete your save though, not sure as I never got that far.

Your data file should be in C:\Users\<Your Computer Username>\AppData\Roaming\SEGA

Delete the folder for SOULHACKERS, then try launching the game. You will not be able to see the AppData folder likely; so go to the <Your Computer Name> folder, then manually add AppData after it in the address path at the top.
This works, but your save data is completely gone. Thanks for the fix, but tbh I don't want to play it if I have to constantly worry about my save data being corrupted and not being able to load my saves.

You should be okay if you leave cloud save off - in theory.

I believe it's getting corrupted when it tries to sync cloud. So as long as you're working local, it SHOULD keep working, at least until they fix cloud saves (IF they do).

It's believed to only be the data.dat and systemdata.dat files that are getting corrupted; so you can also toy with deleting only those. I wrote up a guide about that in the Guides section; but in my case, I wasn't far enough TO create a save, so it didn't matter.
