Oh my god. OH MY GOD, you guys! You don't understand. I just... shut up and listen to me! You better stop reading and put on a helmet RIGHT NOW so you don't make a mess when I blow your freakin' mind!

There's a tier 0 item called Tin Foil Hat and it says "See the hidden reality behind some sides". I got it by starting with the green pocket hero, but the item didn't seem to do anything when putting it on the heroes I had. I thought maybe it was a meme item like a lot of other tier 0's that literally do nothing. BUT IT ISN'T.

What it does is reveal the custom art for sides when they've been modified by other effects. For example, pocket phylactery adds pain to the left and middle side. If you put this on Vampire, who has 2 mana on those sides, you get the little red pain triangle in the lower left of the regular blue mana symbol. The pain symbol (or any other modifier) gets added to the corner of whatever the default side was.

However, the game already has heroes that have mana pain sides, like Warlock and Fiend. The default artwork for mana & pain together is a red mana swirl. Putting on a tin foil hat after the phylactery converts the generic blue mana with red triangle into the red mana icon. Same thing would happen when adding self heal to damage sides to resemble Vampire's attack sides, or adding self shield will make it look like the attack+shield icons that gray heroes often have.
