Generated is breaking my will...
Next likely achievement I've targeted is a generated win - but this is really killing me (literally!)

I feel like I get about half way or so - but it's generally in spite of my heroes, not because of them. I can struggle through, make it work, but too often after I've done 3 rerolls and I'm out, I'm looking at a 2 pip attack die, a 2 pip shield, and three Xs, and that's hard to use against the troll king and his minions.

I'm not getting crazy greedy - I'm keeping dies that are useful - but it sure seems like all my generated heroes have a couple kinda-ok sides and 4 Xs...

Should I just persevere and hope for RNG to smile on me? Or is there a trick to it? Or is it a 'git gud' issue? :tgrin:

Well...if you look a few threads down, I said where I tried unfair a LOT of times and kept losing until I got super lucky with an OP blessing. It's super hard...so good luck! lol

lol - yeah sorry, should have mentioned - this is even on normal difficulty! So I can't even really say it's because the difficulty is too high....

It took me over 100 tries to complete Generate Unfair. The number of X's you get can feel discouraging. I think this is all up to your tolerance for losing repeatedly until, at last, you get lucky enough with your heroes, hero upgrades, items, monsters, final boss, curses (if you're doing a difficulty with them), and rolls to get a win. Once I completed it and went back to other modes, it was such a relief to play with characters with only 1 or 2 blank sides and halfway decent attacks at lower tiers once more. I feel you on this.

It helps to favour items and abilities that compensate for blanks. Dragonhide gloves, for example, is an S tier pick just because so many generated heroes have blanks top & bottom and a decent side in the middle. Look out for spells like glow, gather, hack. Also look out for tactics that spend blank sides. I also think you can't be as rigid in your build as you can in classic — you have to be more flexible. That means not tripling down on steel synergies, to name a random example, but rather looking for more middle of the road, generally useful stuff.

I still have yet to beat it "fairly". I feel I cheated with my OP blessing. Need to play it some more!

Finally got what I think would be the run to finally beat unfair generated - god tier blessing: +4 pips all sides on boss fights (first time I've ever seen this one), not too harsh curses, lots of mana generation and aoe spells. breezed through till fight 9. Then cursed by the RNG gods, rolled blank after blank and got overwhelmed by graves spawning bones'. Did a copy paste of the fight afterwards and rolled through it in 2 turns. Damn.. feels bad, RNG is so much tougher on generated because of the amount of blank faces, feels like there is often too much weight on one or two sides.

Generated, I assume, seems to use a points buy or something to create sides, which gives it a real obsession with the leftmost and central space, since it habitually blows its points early on, leaving the right to be crosses throughout the run.

I also got to the final boss last night and was slaughtered by constant X rolls in the end combo'ed with Hexia being a hard counter (since most of my damage came from two yellows with 7 Melee sides). Even though my Red had an absurd full resurrect 4 heroes, it was just stalling for time.

I think it would be nice if it spread out its points a bit more for reliability.

Generated dice are jank but generated spells are OP.

You can typically find bonkers spells like 2 mana for 7 shields, or 1 mana for 1 damage + focus (so effectively 2 damage for 1 mana). Etc. I think that with generated heroes you have to lean on the spells more.

Lol, playing with a Cat in choose party, I saw some hilariously stupid T4 generations.

A Grey generation had 27 Shield/Heal on one side, a 2 Cleave, and then a 1 damage Exert on 2 other sides (value!!), and two X's. :D

Just now I got a Level 4 Green with these sides:

Top: 80 shield
Middle: 4 Ressurect
Bottom: 1 damage single-use

I took it because it beat the luggage I was using before.

I really dig the generated heros in thoery, but they are so weird most of the times. I rather they have less extreme sides, but have more sides, so they are more consistently useful :)

Still, I did get the generated wins in the end after a few attempts getting a bit lucky, and it was a fun challenge all in all. More fun than the 15 min win imo :P
