I will happily buy it on every platform I can to support the developer.
That is the case. This isn’t a uniquely Steam release. Keep in mind that when the game went to 2.0, saved data did not carry over?
I don’t see it that way at all. Nothing stopping you from continuing to play the itch version. If they weren’t going to support the itch release, I’d agree.
Why would you expect to get a game on a different "platform" than you bought it on? Do you buy PS5 games and are disappointed when you don't also get a Steam key for them?
i guess ill just consider it a lesson learned, no more itch purchases for me.
I would love to have the game on Steam, as it's just easier. Automatic updates, game streaming, cloud saves, Steam Deck support, etc. The list goes on and on why you'd want it on Steam. But there's no way I'm not going to buy it *again* to get that.
The platform here is "PC", regardless of where you bought it. From a consumer perspective it's just easier to have it on Steam, but that wasn't an option for us who bought it early. It literally costs the dev nothing and helps people who believed in the game and jumped on it early.
Agreed. I want to buy it again regardless. The game deserves the support (just my opinion)
>Can I get it on other platforms if I bought it somewhere?
You can download the android version if you bought it on itch. That is all.
Developers new to the platform aren't allowed to print an infinite number of Steam keys (they are very limited on this thanks to bad actors abusing it) and they'd be unable to supply everyone who bought on itch.
Not everyone refuses to do something because they hate you specifically and they're trying to punish you.
That is how much you can get through the back-end system with a few clicks. After that you can also request more keys if you have a valid reason to do so (and yes, providing keys for previous owners is absolutely a valid reason).
I don't claim to know the reason behind not providing keys to Itch owners, but what you just said ain't it.
I'm in game dev, this isn't true.
