Stuck with a party selection
OK, was playing with the different party selection on classic normal - tried a 'mountain' setup, realized I wasn't ready for that, quit and went to restart the game.

Now every time I try a normal classic game, I don't have the ability to pick party makeup - it just goes straight into the first fight with the mountain party that I didn't like from before. I've tried closing and restarting the game, starting the game in another mode, starting the clasic in another difficulty - and after all that, when I return to normal classic, I still have no option for party selection, just straight to fight 1, with the mountain setup.

I've also tried quitting that, starting a new game, and selecting 'yes' when it warns me this will overwrite previous sace - but it doesn't, it just drops me right back in to the same spot.

...thoughts?

edit: guess the answer was to complete the run till I wiped with that party, then the game went back to letting me try something else. Wierd that it wouldn't reset to a new game even though it warned me it would though...

This game encourages you to try various combinations and explore the endless possibilities. It prevents you from simply going to roll openings.
Specifically, you have to reach at least level 3 before you can change your initial opening.

Ah, ok, thank you - understandable I guess, I wasn't really trying to cheese, just decided I wasn't ready for the mountain composition start, so wanted to go back to randomly rolled classic... odd that it still warned me it'd reset the save when it wouldn't, but now I know!

I'm encountering this as well and it doesn't even matter if I lose with the terrible party the system chose for me. It still restarts me with the same party. Is the idea that I have to play through at least three levels before the game will let me change parties? This is either a bug or one of the most terrible ideas I have seen a developer implement.

I mean, worst case you just go easy and beat level 8 real quick, then you can change again

You can also switch to a different game mode and reach level 10. Each game mode will have their own random seed.

It stops me from experimenting. For example, I stopped running the random mode entirely after getting some pure trash tier heros. Forcing myself to play with them is sooo boring and not what I look for in a game. I don't do season passes either. A game should never feel like a job or something you have to do to get to the fun part.

And ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lol at having to play 10 levels in another mode to continue playing the mode I want to play.

Options -> Numbers -> Reset stats
This will reset the game so you can start a new one. You have to reset the achievements separately, elsewhere in the options menu, if you want to restart completely.

Yea. Preventing me from rerolling truly trash starts just leads me to closing the game instead. My current Unfair difficulty seed has 2 units that can summon bone enemies. I don't care if it's technically still beatable; I do not want to deal with such an annoying start regardless.

This workaround of going through easy mode to refresh the seed is also backwards imo. Why should I have to waste my time doing an easy mode run to refresh? I didn't start up the game to play that difficulty.

"I don't want to play this seed" is fundamentally incompatible with the game's philosophy of "play the hand you're dealt". You can accept the way it is, or you can play creative modes to make things work the way you want.

If you are completely unwilling to play a bad seed, then you're playing the wrong mode. Accepting the bad starts is part of the deal.

Oh no, I did try to make it work. Gave it a few tries, even. But, if on the first or second fights, my units decide to effectively kill themselves multiple times in a row by summoning 5+ bones, what am I to do?

I'd rather not bash my head against the wall until they just so happen to not do that. You're just wasting my time at that point.

I dunno, stop rolling them all the way down? Change what you're doing instead of just going with the same approach every time?

You think I haven't tried that? Either way, there's no counter to your units summoning bones on the first roll of the turn.
