Juni's Challenge is actually just not fun
I understand it's supposed to be hard and I've accepted that but there's hard and there's THIS.

The main issue is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ start of the SECOND screen where you have to make a precise launch to reach a very high up ledge. The issue is that it's the START of the second screen. You have barely any wiggle room to gain momentum and launch yourself as going to low (which is very easy) will boot you to the previous screen.

In the end the actually room you have to do this is TINY and majority of my attempts die to this very early ledge. I wouldn't mind the difficulty but it feels ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ RNG if I get the jump or not. Sometimes it's too little, sometimes I'm WAY off. And rather than just grinding it out I feel frustrated as I have a time limit. It doesn't matter if I clear the jump after 20+ Attempts. That's a loss as I still have the rest of the challenge to do.

I unironically feel like making the second screen longer at the start would make it SO much more bearable as now I'd have actually room to launch myself. This is one of the few times I feel like the game is against me and it's just no fun.

Juni's challenge is definitely the hardest platforming segment in the game. My winning run had almost no mistakes and I was still cutting the timer close. For the second screen I'd recommend hooking a bit higher up and then using the shotgun to build momentum before doing the launch.

I actually came across the screen transition problem on screen 5 rather than 2 before I realized I could shotgun jump it. It'd be nice if there should be some kind of buffer if your hooked before a screen transition happens since it feels rather unintuitive currently.

I actually figured out to just Rocket Jump to gain momentum in screen 2 as you said to make it consistent... only to run into the issue in screen 5 as you said.

The problem really is just hooks and screen transitions, especially when going to a screen transition doesn't properly refresh the hook so you're just freefalling and praying. (sometimes It refreshes sometimes it doesn't it's weird)

I was this close to making this exact post on release day, because that jump is very hard. But I started getting it pretty consistently after a good night's sleep and a little practice. Believe me, that's not the hardest jump in the game.

To me the real problem with this challenge was a particular jump where you can't see where you need to hook until you're already in mid-air... quite frustrating challenge overall yet very satisfying to beat!

Sorry wan't aware the screen-transition placement was such a big issue for people, will look into it.

it's in the "quarry" area on the left side of the teleporter above the first statue you find

My advice is to make sure you have these things:

1. The Hook upgrade (let's you shorten it mid-swing)
2. The bullet-pushback upgrade from the fae kingdom area
3. The Shotgun

Swinging with the hook-shortening mid-swing is crucial as it gets you tons of air. The shotgun (with the extra bullet pushback trinket) is even MORE crucial because it gives you a lot of extra air AND a lot of control for correcting your movement.

With a tiny bit of practice, you can make a joke of this level by Vaulting yourself up the side and using the shotgun to give yourself and even bigger boost. You can seriously go up an entire screen in two swings or less on some of them.

for the record I beat the challenge without ever swapping off the rocket launcher. I only had 4.2 seconds to spare, but I did it

I'm currently banging my head against the wall on this one, and I don't know if there have been any fixes since this thread was originally posted, but I figured I'd just throw my own two cents in.

I don't mind the climb itself (made it up to the third screen, yay!), but my biggest issue is the camera. Considering how extremely vertical the climb is, it might be nicer if the camera would show you a bit more of what's above you in this section. So much of it comes down to memorization, since you don't actually get to see what you're trying to grapple onto until you've launched yourself up past the current camera position.

EDIT: Well, I can finally make it past the second screen and a few more in regularly, but I still stand by the idea that the camera in this section is kind of an issue. It doesn't help that the camera drifts towards where your cursor is, and the game seems to want you to use your weapon to help propel yourself upwards, so you're always aiming down when starting most of the jumps. For example, here's a random screenshot from one of the jumps on the first screen:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3293988638

I mean, yeah, I pretty much have that screen memorized at this point, but that's kind of ridiculous to HAVE to memorize it. Otherwise you're having to do a test jump each time to see what the next obstacle is and then adjust once you've caught yourself.

Here's a shot from the 5th screen:

If I counted the screens wrong, that's the one after the first screen with the bouncy yellow gems.. the one where you have to jump quite a ways over to the left on each jump. However, that first jump is pretty much blind, since even with the camera not going that far down since we're already at the bottom of the screen, you still can't see where you're going until you're already in motion.

It's not fun because dev seem to think "loose all on one mistake"-meme streamer games are actually good game and that mechanics have a place in a real game.
But like, why even have time limit then if i fall down anyway. I will finish this, but as a person who likes precision platforming and games that combine it with metroidvanias like Aeterna Noctis - this challenge is infuriating. Time limit = good. Loose everything on one mistake late in the challenge = bad meme mechanics for streamers. I playing for myself and my screams of rage are not really entertaining anyone :closetgamer:

It's also super bad because screens are wide not tall, making game that is as zoomed in as this one a vertical challenge where i often need to shoot into grass that i CANNOT YET SEE is such a rookie mistake it's buffling. If you can't zoom-out then design levels accordingly.

edit: beated it, 1:36, need to chill a bit. I play with 200% boss HP and this was still biggest challenge yet,

Congrats on beating Juni's Challenge! If you are frustrated about the time limit, you can also toggle it on and off in the accessibility settings.

Finally beat it last night. It's definitely a challenge but I felt the more I played the game, the more I got used to the physics and the easier the challenge become. The most frustrating part was one mistake could send you back to the beginning or there abouts.

I think the most bother I had was during screen transitions where one screen I'd be aiming down with my shotgun but because the cursor stays in the same screen space between screens, I'd suddenly be aiming upwards and I'd blast myself back down the mountain.

Not sure how I feel about it. It's definitely a challenge I can imagine a number of players just give up on. I don't mind that it locks you out of a trinket and 100% the game because that should be challenge but I'm not too fond of it locking you out of one of the DLC areas which so far I'm finding is a lot more forgiving with the checkpoints and lack of timer.

Congrats! While it is easier to get to that DLC area by passing Juni's Challenge, it is also possible to get to that area without doing so though it can be quite difficult.
