Can I at least get him his coat?
I'm trying to work out a path to save Anders. When the Nazis come for Anders I can help my husband with the first aid kit and some painkillers (if I have kept one dose) In my previous playthroughs I see the grayed out choice of getting Anders his coat but my Occupation Relation was not good enough. First time I noticed I had a score of 7, then I played again and got a score of 9, still not good enough. So I was very careful and figured that a score of 10 would be good and it was really the best I could manage making all the right choices. I still was not able to get the coat for him. My question is, would a choice be displayed if it was impossible to get? Could I not ever get enough points? In that regard would it not be helpful to show how much my relationship should be to pass this challenge. If I knew it was more than 10 I would try again and see what other small change I could make. I figure that giving Anders a coat and some meds would improve his chances in jail and for when I bust him out of the train later. Thanks for any insights anyone has : )

Hello, developer here 😄
There is a simple explanation but it's a spoiler, so for players who have not finished a playthrough yet, perhaps don't read on:
We hid a few "sure wins" and "sure losses" throughout the beginning of the game, to serve as a hidden "emotional tutorial" - making sure players have some experience of success and of failure and get used to this feeling of ambivalence. We made these "tutorials" undeclared because we wanted players to experience exactly this small feeling of unfairness, that is so central to what Gerda herself is going through.
The coat is one of those secret "sure losses" - you can never have enough occupation relation at this point. We can assure you that the game is still very balanced and heavily playtested, so that you can achieve every variation of any of the fates in the game, and there is a way to affect any encounter.
BUT if you've been playing a lot and would like an extra challenge, here's one: there is exactly one major thing, around the middle of the game, that you can NEVER achieve. We made it impossible for artistic reasons, it made sense for the story we wanted to tell - can you figure out what it is? Don't ask us to confirm or deny your guess, we want the players to figure it out themselves, but it's there!

Thank you for the explanation. You as the story creators have full rein and your intended reaction was spot on. I will keep an eye out for other such difficult challenges.

I do believe I have discovered the answer to your challenge question. I didn't arrive at it easily but as a gradual realization after trying several approaches.
