Very cool game but no character creator = no buy

While it's not a dealbreaker for me (even as someone who poured hundreds of hours into City of Heroes, Champions Online and Gazillion's Marvel Heroes) - I'm still excited about the Fuse customization of super powers - the FAQ definitely seems like the answer to the question is No on character creator/extensive customization, which seems like a bummer for sure:

Are there character customization options?
You will be able to customize the colour of your gear and weapons, but the characters will not be customizable

Can you create your own character?
No, you will not be able to create your own character.

I mean, creating a Super Hero game without a Creator only works if you are using a preexisting hero from marvel or DC. Big BIG FAIL devs

Most games in this genre tend to lean towards a set character design.
Besides, your character visually does not matter as you're gonna be clad in all manner of armor which is technically character customisation.

Yeah, this is a major bummer. I don't want to play as some generic premade character. Especially when the ones in the demo were so... bland.

Yeah, I won't knock the people that are ok with it and like it, but sadly won't exactly be chomping at the bit to play the game either because of a lack of character creation. I could even handle the classes being fixed, but geeze dude, in a world where there's no shortage of excellent games to try out and a vanishingly rare period to play them to completion, others are going to draw my attention more.

Damn shame too, the power customization idea had some legs, though it is retardedly easy right now to get unmanageably overpowered. Elementalist with Homing + Piercing + Splitter (I think) + as many Zig Zags as you can cram onto it for damage and you're screen clearing with a single cast, no need to worry about high energy consumption.

Try this attitude in a real shop. Go inside and tell the seller you dont buy this and that because it lack of something. I think it will laugh around you then show the door where you can leave the shop. The world dont rolling around you, dont feel youself too entitled. You dont buy, but others will.

You seem to have missed the point. They were essentially saying "Hey, I'm the target audience, but not letting us make our own characters is a mistake that'll make me not buy the game."

And who the hell cares about Steam points? They're worthless.

They decided to have fix characters, nothing wrong with that. You dont like it, then dont buy it. This game is one of the most popular on next fest, so there will be enough player who will buy it. In this story only you will miss a good game because of your own mistake.

I really dislike gender-locked classes as a concept, but it doesn't stop me from playing and enjoying games like PoE. I do wish we had a male and a female version like in Diablo 3, but they did say they're a small team and they're worried about delivering high quality instead which is fine.
