When you add the motorized perk, it still remains costing 1 supply because you only increase the movement range; no other stat is changed. However, if you later add the mechanized perk, its cost goes up to 3 and has its stats changed to a mechanized unit.
* Upgrade units (costs Prestige and may affect deployment/support cost)
* Disband units (Prestige refund)
One issue about upgrading units is that some units of the same class (Infantry, for example) have different Perks so what happens to previously learned Perks? Personally, I like the idea of previously earned Perks remaining in-place after the upgrade so you can, in a sense, multi-class a unit. Note that for upgrading to be useful the experience level, at level, needs to be preserved.
Please add a way to upgrade units which can work within the game. It should cost and perhaps the unit would lose a level of experience or something.
My other major remark would be units getting repaired instantly as they gain a level (thus, in the middle of combat). That's pretty annoying and seems quite unrealistic. I would perhaps consider a similar limitation as for the resupply, that they have to be outside of enemy contact at least and the resupply would happen once you up the level.
Panzer I's and II's were phased out as soon as upgraded PIII's and IV's became available in sufficient quantities. Panzer III's were relegated to light tank duties in 1943, as soon as the Panthers came into service. Also Stug's were preffered due to the cost vs. firepower.
As more experienced the crews were they were given better equipment most tank aces went to fight in Tigers and King Tigers/Jagd Tigers.
This was the trend with all branches so it makes the most sense to allow upgrades, even from type to another with increasingly exp penalty.
I just saw that, the enemy is being attacked and has 1 strength left but levels up and has 10 strength suddenly. This seems like a bad design choice or an oversight!?

We will look into possibilities of adding such a feature to the game. Although our initial idea was a trade-off between older but exp. units vs. brand new ones with zero exp.
I do not agree with the developers comments concerning upgrading units. Typically, when new equipment is fielded, the crews are pulled from the line combat to refit and retrain on the upgraded weapon systems. I love this game, and I think the suggestion made by Emmett Fitz-Hume is a good one on improving on this game.
But transfering a crew from a Pz I to say a Pz IV shouldn't make the crew lose it's experience.
In fact, I suggest that units buy parks or send changes by spending prestige
An example (but only if you changed the mechanized infantry to soft targets)
My anti-tank guns and mortars are towed with APCs, which allows them to have more defensive points and counter-attack capability in the face of assault
Or I put the infantry on bikes (which may not be very "historical," but it's interesting)
Instead of making more troops
(Of course, more troops will be needed, assault guns, anti-aircraft machine guns, zombies, helicopters, anti-tank missiles, powered armor....)
At very very least please allow us to "sell/reform" old units for some prestige.. but dont do that and allow us to upgrade old units please.
