Room issues
So I created a Tier 4 Apartment. it is 16x16. It has a bed, a storage, 2 shelves with default settings, a table and 4 chairs. When it had a small table and 4 stools it stated it was a Tier 4 Apartment. As soon as I updated the table to a large table and the chairs to tier 2 chairs, now it is stuck as a Bunk House. I can rebuild everything in the room and it is still just a Bunk house. It says Indoor: True. 4 walls, a door and a roof that completely covers it. I followed the same steps with a new room build and the same thing happened, as soon as I updated the stools and small table it is stuck as a Bunk Room.

I have issues with rooms alot, bedrooms change to bunk rooms, but what I have found sometimes is changing bed to the tribe amd it sometimes will reset room back, then assign it again.

I really wished they just allowed manual zoning.

I uploaded a video showing the issue. If the bed is unowned it is an apartment. If the bed is owned then it becomes a bunk room. When its unowned it doesnt show up in the belongings so I can give it to Clunk.

(Video was just uploaded. Still processing)

OK so there are lots of things here you need to understand about rooms. I will make a list of what I can think of in point form because it should be easier for me.

Rooms are individual things and self contained and are surrounded by a green ring.
Structures are a collection on rooms and are surrounded by a purple ring and contain a very specific collection of room types and tiers.
You can bring up a screen showing the requirements to make a valid room or structure by clicking on the coloured ring.
The purple ring will surround a group of rooms and hence contain a series of green ringed rooms. It can be hard to select the right ring if you try to select them individually but if you double click the combined green and purple ring it toggles. (Zoom out a lot works too)
When a ring is selected a small box with the room or structure types details appears. Select the name of whatever room or structure you have selected here.
This will open a specs page listing the requirements to fulfil either rooms or structures tier/type requirements. These pages also open if you click on the want in the bottom right corner of your screen when someone wants a room or building.
When you create a room it must be equal to the listed size or it can be a tile or two bigger but if you make it larger it can pop up a tier. ie small T1 bedroom = 4 or 5 tiles, medium 6,7, or 8 tiles and large 9,10.11 etc, etc. I don't think layout matters.
Rooms are determined by what you place in them. Two beds = bunk room. Listed on specs page.
When you select a bed and set an owner or to rent you mess things up. Select the ring around the the building or room and set the owner in that little box. (Remove bed owner first)
No roof = no room and I think accidentally deleting a roof piece will remove room allocation settings and results in homeless nobles if it was owned.

That might be enough to give you a good start on rooms and buildings.

Good luck.

As much as I appreciate you spending your time typing all that out, its a bit of a waste. If you watched the video and read my post you would understand I knew all that.

I am reporting a bug to the developer with video proof and a save game.

Using a game mechanic as its offered, setting a bed owner, shouldn't "mess things up" and I wanted to let the developer know that it does.

Ok well how about in your initial post you point out that you are explaining a bug. Or use the bug section because what I read there was that you did not understand why it was changing it's room designation.
While I do not know why it defaults to bunk room it should definitely not remain as a T4 apartment. It does not seem to fit what I understand is a bunk room.

Try getting rid of that T1 stockpile as those are not needed and I had the placement of one of those upset my applecart once. If you set that to accept anything it breaks room settings.
While I get that maybe you are arguing the definition of a 'bunkhouse' or whatever and how this room does not fit that definition I am not surprised something freaked out when you deliberately broke it. When I set T4 apartment bed to an owner it simply removes that room entirely and took the purple ring with it since that lack of room ruined the building type.

I don't know why you are waving the cursor over your kingdoms belongings. That apartment should not be there as it is now part of the building and not an individual room.
You must go to the small box that says 'Apartment T4' and assign the room an owner or to rent there. NOT the bed. So setting the bed should in fact mess things up... just not with the result you achieved.
My understanding is that the entire green ring should have vanished as that room no longer seems any form of valid room type. Next time you check (if you have the save file) look at what the purple building ring tells you. Is it changing from a chateau to a rambler or something?

You are probably right in that you found a problem but that's not what I got from your first post. Your first post just looked like you were confused, not highlighting an issue.

I built what you built and it does not change it to a bunkhouse when I set the bed so your game has some other factor affecting that rooms designation. I don't know what that could be.
In my game I cannot even successfully create a bunk house. I think we can agree that the definition of a bunkhouse is the problem but it is affecting us differently. I cannot make one and you cannot NOT make one. Odd. Maybe move this thread to the bug section.

I stopped reading here because a stockpile is 100% needed for all tiers of apartments.

Yeah see this is the thing. It's not. Try it. Then maybe reassess your superior attitude which is entirely unfounded. You obviously don't know what you are on about.

Chill friends.

A stockpile or a shelf is needed. Make sure it doesn’t have any storage settings on it.

Mine have default settings. Just a weird bug I wanted to share with you :)

Ok, so you don't need a stockpile AND a shelf? It's a stockpile OR a shelf?

The setup of this screenshot confused me:

Regardless, having both shouldn't break the room I'm guessing.

Aye - thanks friend!
-shhfiftyfive Jun 21, 2022 @ 11:21pm
i'm still getting this problem.

fully furnished, it is a tier 4 apartment. bed unassigned.
if i assign the bed then it becomes a bunk room.
every single one. every time.
-shhfiftyfive Jun 22, 2022 @ 12:37am
bandaid working solution: you MUST issue the bed through the "belongings" menu.

bug: if you just click a bed and change "owner" to a clan member, that way it doesn't work. it breaks the room. turns it into bunk room.

(for dev: either remove the option to assign bed via clicking bed directly, or...)
xobermon  [developer] Jun 22, 2022 @ 9:57am
Hey friend - it becomes a bunkroom because the bed isn’t included once you give it out. If you want someone to have the whole room, give them the room instead.
