About that Demon Carbuncle Portal [Minor Spoilers]
First off, wanted to say I'm having a blast with the game - you've made something really amazing here and I'm totally excited for what you may have next.

I see not many people have experienced the Demon Carbuncle event, wanted to share my unfortunate and hilarious experience with it.

Everything is peachy up to the point where you hit the first Minor Breacher. He smartly has a long range fireball attack for ranged combatants (good move) if it can't reach you - because I was using a ranged combat strategy.

He can, however, be slightly cheesed as your archers fire in an arc, while its fireball travels in a straight line - So fighting from a high hill was to my advantage. His fireball does destroy obstacles till it reaches your archers, so all is fair.

The Adroit Michael

The bigger issue is actually Michael - after wave 10, Michael spawns somewhere on the edge of the map. I didn't realize this until I noticed the imps were chasing some unknown target. Then the portal indicated Michael as a casualty, so I eventually tracked him down in a puddle of red-berry sauce.

If he cannot reach your base / your citizens, his cutscene will not be triggered and the Imps will eventually hunt and beat him to a pulp (despite his super magic cannonballs). This would lead to the portal spawning infinite imps and breachers and.... well... it's over. Your computer would likely crash first from the lag of too many spawns.

Suggestion

At wave 10, increase the wave timer a bit more and have Michael spawn NEXT to the portal - with a massive initial cooldown on the seal breach spell. Or just force trigger the cutscene wherever Michael spawns.

Oh... And could I ask for mechanical traps, drowning, piles of skulls / prisoner cages and more quality of life stuff in the future please :D Totally loving it!!

Does this happen much? My portal disappeared after the first wave of imps (possibly only 1) and haven't been seen since for several seasons/years.

Not very sure, based on the text it happens once every few full cycles of seasons, I'll let you know when it comes back!

Are you talking about the portal from the carbuncle? It shouldn’t close on its own.

Nah, just the normal imp attack. I ended up starting a new game. I had endless attacks from the group you initially defect from, but only had a single attack from imps. I'd never even seen the portal til last night. This second play through I have started has had a few more monster attacks and on about the 5 or 6th attack from them the carbuncle appeared. It would have taken 5-6 hours of play to get to this appearing though. Not sure if it had just taken me too long to build up enough prestige or what.
