A breakaway is at the mercy of the peloton, almost no matter your strength. If they deem you dangerous in the break they wont let you go. Getting away is a mix of luck and timing.
I got the 20 sek gap and then had the same guy pull the peloton untill my yellow bar was at 0.
I play with default settings so max raceday is +3
I'll challenge anyone, ever seen an initial breakaway make it to the finish in this game or indeed any pcm game?, EDIT "unless" it's your team that's leading, then the breakaway gap can be 20 or even 30 mins the AI won't react, which is frankly bs, because it happens in real life all the time, that's just 1 aspect of why the game logic is not realistic, and there's so many others..
I won the first stage of Paris-Nice by 2 mins from a break I initiated. I see AI breaks make it often on hilly stages, mostly well into stage races when it doesn't threaten the GC.
Breakaways almost always loose irl as in the game. In the last 7 tdf's only 2% of the flat stages has been won by the break. In one day races and shorter stage races there are high incentives for all teams to bring the break back.
This is definitely a 22 bug. I have experienced it a couple of times. Very annoying. If you 99 effort instead of relay you can still pull the peloton. But its not much of a fix.
