Improvised Fridge in House

If I place an improvised fridge into a house with a generator, do I have to do anything extra to get it running? TYIA

If its the one I'm thinking of, you have to add a car battery to it, believe that's what really powers it, not a generator. I haven't played with it much since I just looted the thermostat recently.
