Persistence?

This may be a dumb question, but I don't know a whole lot about the game. My question is, is the game world and the items in it, persistent? What I mean is, if I put items in a bag and then I drop that bag inside of a house, or I put items in the trunk of a car or something, will they remain there? Or will they disappear on me? Yes, only zombie loot bags, dead animals, and dead NPCs despawn. You can leave anything on the ground or in any container it will always be there where you left it.

They should despawn when you leave it for lets say 60 mins.. if not the entire map will be filled with trash...

You can craft Trash bins that will delete the items you toss in it.
