AI Companions?

Are there AI Companions that you can recruit and then they will follow you or guard your base? Also it would be cool to have dog companion to guard you or maybe to search items.

Honestly i think thats actually a cool idea, im planning to buy the game but want to get more info on it b4 i decide to :)
Would be neat to have your base filled with AI Guarding it ^^ and be able to take any one of em or 2 or w/e and check random places for materials and such :O

okay congrats the dog is out
now I wonder if they will bring human companions and add base management/defense like in State of Decay series

I believe the dog can help u clear zombies/defend u, and also take some inventory space
