Where can I get salt?

I want to make salted meat, but I've never found it in the kitchens of residential areas. Is it only available at certain POIs?

So far its just something found via RNG, although I think certain areas have a higher chance of finding it. For example, I've never found salt at an autoshop. :)

I'm pretty sure the devs are considering alternate ways to obtain salt, like being able to gather ocean water, then evaporate it, or something similar.

I'm sure it can be found in other places, but I haven't found it yet.

I've found salt once or twice at a grocery store... but yes, mostly in cupboards in houses.

With the ninja patch the salt drops have been increased. We are also looking into allowing more ways to accumulate salt for different sources, we cannot say what those are at this time.

If you know where the house for the easy start is located, there's a salt node right across the road from it, on the beach.

Saltpeter is only used for ammo but there are rocksalt nodes in the game.

Rocksalt mining nodes look similar to Saltpeter nodes, but with thicker white lines through the rock. Once you know what to look for, you can usually spot a Rocksalt node pretty easy. I'm sure there are more, but I think I've found 2 Rocksalt nodes so far, maybe 3. I can't remember exactly. :)

I mined it, it was written that it was a stone.
