Base building co op-Can't help build base

I play co op with my husband (he creates the game, I join in). We love to base build together, but in this case, I'm not able to help build. He has to make the blueprint and only then i can add the building supplies needed for said (fire pits, barricades, and everything else for building). A note pops up and says to the effect of "cant build here its not your area". If i wanted to build anything, i would need to walk away from our base to find the outpart of his zone be allowed to build anything. (He did build the respawn point just a fyi in our base). I'd like to be able to help and not ask for blueprints all the time. Its a great game and we are purely enjoying it. Just hoping there's a fix on this that we are not seeing. Thank you!!!! Have you guys formed a guild together yet?

Bring up the Esc menu, down the bottom left is a tab to create a clan, do that and both join up. That might fix your problem?

As previously mentioned, make a "guild"... or just make sure you're in a group when playing. Other players in the same group should be able to build in your base area.
