What to do with empty bottles and jars?

I've got 50+ empty bottles and a bunch of empty jars, but I can't find anything to do with them. I can't seem to fill them at a river or pond so what are they for?

Empty Bottles are used for refilling from toilets (interact, add the empty bottle to slot and hit the fill button. If there is enough water, it will fill the bottle). Be sure to treat or boil the water or you may get sick. Also, after building a rain catcher (hit "b" to open build menu - need a hammer to actually build but you can still see the menu of structures you can build and the materials required) and fill bottles after a rain storm - no need to treat this water.

Jars - I have not figured that out yet. Still looking...

Are you playing Single Player or on a Server?

If you are playing Single Player mode you don't need it unless you like taking trips to places to collect toilet water and treating it.

Jars are used to build lights and you get them by eating food like peanut butter, jams, such and such.

If you don't need any of it, just build a trash bin and that will get rid of some of your waste that you don't need.

Thanks for the tips. Much appreciated. It's really weird to me that you can fill them up at toilets (had no idea you could do that) but not rivers and lakes. Maybe in a future update.

You can fill empty bottle in lakes and rivers now. You get 'dirty water' from them.
