Dog Companion Stamina

Companion Stamina does not seem to be replenishing after feeding it raw meat or Dog food any suggestions? I let one die already and obtained another but same thing happening

You can find dogs either at the Police station near the radio tower. Or there's an easier location towards the north east. If you follow the main road from the starting location there's a trailer park, you should hear the dog barking if you feed it raw meat or dog food (craft a dog bowl from dog food) it will follow you.

These are the only two locations I've found so far so there are probably more locations.
Make sure to carry raw meat or dog food with you.

No it will be a single German Shepard it will bark and then lay down, will not attack you as far as I am aware.

If you have found the Airfield then look directly south of the bottom tip of the airfield there is a junction that is an upside down Y, to the south east of that there is the trailer park.

I'm not sure if all spawn locations are the same but I would assume so!

In my save file, I have the same problem. The dog's stamina won't go up anymore, fed him like 5 dog food bowls, several raw AND cooked meats. I was hyped by having the dog companion, but the dog companion system is so unstable (as many other systems in the game). I even noticed that if you try to feed another player's dog, it duplicates the ''dog's status'' HUD for both players and the dog's health/stamina aren't even synched to the same values in both screens.

I'm beginning to regret getting the game in early access. I think I got too used to playing ''stable'' early access games that I thought it would be the same with this game.

Alas, this game is buggy like I've rarely seen before in my several experiences of early access games.

My friends often die cause they don't see the zombies that I see in my screen, many vehicules disappear for other players, inventories in stashes don't show up properly, etc. I think I'll wait a couple months before playing again. I hope the game doesn't die and they patch everything, it has potential.

Until then, i'll play a singleplayer file, hoping that the patches will let me save my dog in my multiplayer file :/

I try to feed my dog again today and yes it's bugged, can't replenish it's stamina. It's single player save file.

i drop dog food and meat in front of my dog and he just straight up ignores it most of the time. i even had him lay down and dropped it right in front of his face but he still ignored it, puppy gonne die

since the new update a few days ago the dog is Still not healing / with food and stamina is Still not replenishing

i have all items built and quite a nice fort with 4 cars

do i need to delete my character and start over for the dog to work correctly ?

Same here, I still have some problems regarding the dog. It just won't eat the dog food bowl I dropin its face... I must precise that it is an old save, prior to the patch. Do we have to start anew to make sure the dog reacts to a dropped bowl ? I run on experimental branch as of 2-2-2024 and dog is not ''recruited'' yet, but has no interest in eating the food.

I can confirm it is related with the experimental branch. I downgraded it to normal version and I managed to ''recruit'' the dog. I'll post an update later about if feeding the dog is working or not in the normal version.

I heard it should have been fixed but I think you needed to let your character die in old saves or to start a new save. Not played it since the patch.

Can't lie as I can appreciate all work that goes into games, this game was a great try but falls quite short compared to others games.

If you enjoy these types of games but want a more immersive system and gameplay I would recommend Project Zomboid compared to this. Yes the graphics are much different but honestly out of the two PZ will always be superior due to more immersive mechanics in all aspects.

Would be crazy if we could get a horse instead, I have not reached the stage of getting a dog yet
