That's kind of silly considering it's Avast being at fault and wrongly flagging a gamefile. It has nothing to do with the game.
Maybe consider asking for a refund for your Avast subscription if you have one ?
Windows Defender + using your Brain is more than enough in this Day and age.
Get rid of these useless Antivirus Programs, you dont need them.
Hey guys, its the holidays. I can understand everyones frustration, but this is a problem that has a third party involvement and its the "happy holiday" remember. Dev's are allowed to spend some time with their loved ones too, even if that means you have to pick another title out of the Library to play. :))
(Almost) Happy New Year guys.
I've done the same and had no malware or hidden malicious files on my system.
Are you sure those files are not from something else?
If it was me, I wouldn't connect those two together without some research in the files.
It also raises some questions:
- Are you the only person using that pc? If not, what are the other persons doing on that pc?
- Do you download a lot?
- Do you visit possible dangerous or malicious sites? (or another user maybe?)
- Do you use your AV's browsing protection?
- Do you use mods in your games or addons in your browser or other programs?
- Do you work with Adobe products or are you saving pdf files? Do you share pdf files or are there files shared to you? This could lead to random generated names for pdf files.
I mean, there are tons of possible reasons why those files are there. If it would be from this game's exe file, everybody should have these files. At least a couple.
If the files are really malicious, remove them. But find out for sure if it is this exe file or something else.
And because it seems to be ONLY Avast/AVG (which are the same thing with different names) it makes it very obviously a false positive.
I agree, but the 2nd part of your solution is lost on many.
Avast is such a trash av and resource hog
Antivirus Software (in today's day and age) is like wearing a mask to stop covid even though the science/logic says covid is smaller than smoke particles and cloth masks do not even stop smoke particles.
This my own opinion and in no way is being forced upon the OP or anyone else, it's merely information you may be able to work from in order to improve your gaming experience.
Happy New Year, Folks!
