Controls are most annoying for a top down game where you can also rotate view. I hope in the final version these can be saved to something to everyone's personal liking?

Which aspects of it do you feel are the most annoying?

I find WASD moving annoying in general already. Take into consideration there is QWERTY and AZERTY keyboards too. Anyway, while rotating view, character is not moving as I want it and it's a pain to figure out how to move properly. I would prefer moving by arrows or mouse to be honest for a game like this.

Thanks for the feedback! We are aware that there are AZERTY keyboards, we actually have a decent number of testers from France from the early days of the game (as well as left handed players). That is why all those controls currently support key rebinding. It is unlikely that the game will ever support clicking of the mouse to move the character but you can currently rebind WASD to the arrow keys.

Can you make it so RMB can be held to rotate view?

I have to say I did not like the controls, at all. This is one area you should pick a popular game and copy. You do NOT need to reinvent top down controls. I struggled with the controls every step of the way. This is going to be a major turnoff for the American market. Just trying to get around the house and barn was a chore. Press E, opps that put the camera outside the house so the roof is in the way. Opps I moved the mouse so now I am facing a different direction, press E again .. of I was pressing W to move now my rotation is different, so adjust for that. Oh there is an enemy? Press E 3 times to turn camera hold right mouse press w doesn't move forward, it moves up .. EXIT .. post comment, move on to next game.

That would be great already!

@Hawthorn I follow you completely there, somehow I got through that house to the workbench, but from there on I was just like sliding against and around the workbench, couldn't even move away from it... Graphics, overall sphere, story and content look promising but controls... :(

There is bug that we're currently fixing the involves multiple meshes breaking the hiding of the roof. To be fair, you do not need to rotate the camera to change the direction that the character faces, the character will always face in the direction of the cross hair.

The controls are standard third person movement, but with a top down camera. If you're open to it, I would suggest holding W and simply tapping Q and E every couple of seconds to quickly get the hang of how the rotational movement works.

I do appreciate your feedback on RMB though, not sure if that would ever work with the movement system as we would probably need to tear it all down and build it back up to support that.

I really like this game, but controls...Omg controls are something what made me turn off the game and not play it again, hope that you will fix it :/

Tried again, with arrows this time, and that makes it way easier and more comfortable! You can change these under settings by the way, not under controls :)

Sorry, I should have specified that. Controls is basically an overview of the default set up. May be a good idea to remove them, but I have seen people use it in the past.

You could make that a sub of settings?

I hear you ... its a shame about the controls, I am not able to get passed them to experience the game.

I (like 10s of thousands of others) was able to pickup project zomboid, kenshi, etc easily, and I have spent hundreds and hundreds of hours in those games. However, there is just something that feels 'broken' and frustrating about the controls in this game.

Why do you not copy project Zomboid? You can already see the community sees this as a 'better looking' project zomboid. So they come to try it out and immediately struggle with the controls? We have hundreds of hours of learning how to position and use melee and ranged attacks .. but you switch it up? Why? How does your control scheme improve the players experience? What is the payoff for learning a new scheme?

Even if I did take the time to learn your scheme, when I took a week off to play a new mod in Project Zomboid .. I would get all my muscle memory messed up .. and then struggle, for no reason, when I tried to come back

If I had bought this I would have down voted it (with these comments) and then returned it. I feel strongly if you release this game it will get a lot of returns and down votes for controls.

How about an optional setting that binds the camera to the direction the player is facing - like the way the car movement is done?

We are not here to copy PZ that is its own game if we had a third person cam then people would say its like Dayz :)

Its unique in the way you move and rotate the camera and we are always trying to tweak and polish and improve the game but this is honestly the first time we've heard someone cant play it due to the controls :(

Its normally that people struggle at first but after a good time of playing and getting used it they really enjoy it.

But we do really appreciate all the feedback good and bad so thank you
