Thanks for the feedback! We are aware that there are AZERTY keyboards, we actually have a decent number of testers from France from the early days of the game (as well as left handed players). That is why all those controls currently support key rebinding. It is unlikely that the game will ever support clicking of the mouse to move the character but you can currently rebind WASD to the arrow keys.
There is bug that we're currently fixing the involves multiple meshes breaking the hiding of the roof. To be fair, you do not need to rotate the camera to change the direction that the character faces, the character will always face in the direction of the cross hair.
The controls are standard third person movement, but with a top down camera. If you're open to it, I would suggest holding W and simply tapping Q and E every couple of seconds to quickly get the hang of how the rotational movement works.
I do appreciate your feedback on RMB though, not sure if that would ever work with the movement system as we would probably need to tear it all down and build it back up to support that.
I hear you ... its a shame about the controls, I am not able to get passed them to experience the game.
I (like 10s of thousands of others) was able to pickup project zomboid, kenshi, etc easily, and I have spent hundreds and hundreds of hours in those games. However, there is just something that feels 'broken' and frustrating about the controls in this game.
Why do you not copy project Zomboid? You can already see the community sees this as a 'better looking' project zomboid. So they come to try it out and immediately struggle with the controls? We have hundreds of hours of learning how to position and use melee and ranged attacks .. but you switch it up? Why? How does your control scheme improve the players experience? What is the payoff for learning a new scheme?
Even if I did take the time to learn your scheme, when I took a week off to play a new mod in Project Zomboid .. I would get all my muscle memory messed up .. and then struggle, for no reason, when I tried to come back
If I had bought this I would have down voted it (with these comments) and then returned it. I feel strongly if you release this game it will get a lot of returns and down votes for controls.
Its unique in the way you move and rotate the camera and we are always trying to tweak and polish and improve the game but this is honestly the first time we've heard someone cant play it due to the controls :(
Its normally that people struggle at first but after a good time of playing and getting used it they really enjoy it.
But we do really appreciate all the feedback good and bad so thank you
