Sailwind

Suggestion: Can we have a wind indicator?
Can we have a wind direction indicator when we are outside? It will help a lot when sailing at night or in 1st person.

This wind indicator could be an arc around the center inventory circle.

We already have that, it's called a telltail (iirc). It's the strip of fabric at the top of the main mast of your boats. If you go to the shipyard, you can get an extra one added to your rigging where you can see it while at the wheel.

Yes, thanks for the answer but I know about that, I can also see the wind direction by watching the waves but I thought it would be cool to have the feeling of the wind on my skin being anywhere outside the boat to have a general idea of where the wind is coming from, that's why I talked about the arc indicator, a less precise way to know where the wind is coming from but it would help a lot in night sailing, especially when I'm operating larger boats with multiple sails like the Brig.

You mean a Wind O Meter (Anemometer) that compare the windstrength in Baeufortscale 1-9 . This Item would be helpfull at some times.

FYI the Wheel is the best feedback indicator for Wind strength and direction, but it is linked to what sails are being used, what their trim is, and how much sail area. Wind strength is also signalled by the game's audio, as are changes in strength due to nearby weather systems.

Which reminds me, the Wind Chimes can also help with knowing the strength. I personally prefer the metal ones in that regard.

Where can you add this id love to just add it to rigging. I know stock masts will provide it. For instance the brig has it all the way at top mast but adding more lower would help with angles and night
you could also have a puff on the ol pipe.... but I'm actually in agreement. Some kind of inherent and basic (not dependent on a device or tool) indication of wind direction would be fair. Any lubber can walk out the door and put their face into the wind without having to look at the tails.
I mean, given the era it's loosely set in, it works quite well. You can see the wind direction with the little flags (tell tales are on sails to show the flow of air over them, different thing) and the flag also flies differently depending on the wind state.
But it would be nice to have more howling winds (although we have some audio as mentioned) and like whitecaps on the water etc so you can guess.

But I think the dev could implement a tool for the cockpit so you can see the flag better. Honestly, sometimes I can't tell if it's before of abaft the beam. Maybe a handheld flag or something.

Closest thing so far is the pipe

There's also the Lanterns, at least at night. Keep one in your hand, use 3rd person view, and scroll closer, the Lantern will illuminate the tops of the masts and the wind flags.
