Yes! That's the link!
it's all beyond me why this doesn't appear on any search engine when looking for "Shattered Seas".
One has to type these words into the Github on-site search and then it's among the results. But one really has to know what he's looking for and... Shattered Seas aren't exactly the first two words that come to my mind if I think I'd like to look for additional ships.
My irl job is, in part, the philologist, and I've noticed that the first major threat to documents is when nobody imagines they exist. To solve this, not only I make new digital copies of these documents, copies that support word search, but it's crucial to index contents by category.
Nexus allows to do so, to a certain extend, as it features tags and other search criteria. Additionally, each page contains useful information on the build of the mod, the changelog, a bugs section and other amenities, but not to much to the point of being confusing.
The problem of Github, which is actually better and more professional than Nexus, is that it covers all the software, while Nexus covers game mods divided by games.
So, Github is perfect for developing while Nexus (or Moddb) is very nice to let people know and use the mod.
and the side effect of this discussion is that the topic is staying active for longer, allowing more people to see it.
The current in-game junk family is just too unstable and generally a poor choice over others
I love the jonque to death, pls don't badmouth.
Now, regarding the actual topic, I agree that the game's mods should probably be advertised better, because there's a wealth of it (not just the clipper, there's a few other boats as well, together with utility mods and Scrambled Seas which imo elevates the Sailwind experience into a totally different place.
These are not officially endorsed and aren't exactly one-click installs a lot of people might be used to on steam workshop, which is probably why nobody is really throwing links around. It's just so much easier to get help through discord and all the tutorials are already there. Not to mention, the comminity has been nothing but amiable and helpful, with people sharing tons of knowledge, pushing all those excellent projects. Is it worth to deal with Discord for that alone? WIthout hesitation. For me I would get it for the Shipyard Expansion mod alone.
Sure, there may be concerns about modding the game in its beta state, but so far, as long as the new updates don't interfere with the modded code, the simpler modification tend to work, even if they haven't been updated in a while.
